MEAN, MEDIAN, MODE, AND RANGE!
Ms. Flynn's class (Made by Nicole Navarro and Genesis Cota)
MEAN
The mean in a set of data is the average.
1) add all the data (values) together
2) divide by the number of different data (values) you have
Ex:
Set: 4, 0, 8, 2, 1, 7, 2, 4, 26, 2, 10
Step 1) add (66)
Step 2)divide by the numbers you have (11)
Step 3) solve! (66/11 = 6 = mean
1) add all the data (values) together
2) divide by the number of different data (values) you have
Ex:
Set: 4, 0, 8, 2, 1, 7, 2, 4, 26, 2, 10
Step 1) add (66)
Step 2)divide by the numbers you have (11)
Step 3) solve! (66/11 = 6 = mean
MODE
The mode is the number that come out the most times.
1) put the numbers in order from least to greatest
2) find the number that comes out more than once
*sometimes there is more than one mode or no mode!!*
Ex:
Set:1, 2, 4, 5, 3, 3, 9, 3, 1,
Step 1) put the numbers in correct order (1,1, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 5, 9)
step 2) find the number that come out the most times (1=2 2=1 3=3 4=1 5=1 9=1)
The mode is 3!
RANGE
The range is the smaller number subtracted from the bigger number.
Step 1) put the numbers in order from least to greatest
Step 2) subtract the smaller number from the bigger number
Ex:
Set: 1, 5, 3, 3, 7, 4, 9, 7, 6
Step 1) order the numbers correctly (1, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 9)
Step 2) subtract (9 - 1 = 8)
The answer is 8!
