On February 5th, teachers and administrators from BHS joined tens of thousands of teachers and millions of students from ALL 50 states, in partnering with the Alliance for Excellent Education for the third annual national Digital Learning Day. Digital Learning Day is a nationwide event to promote the use of digital teaching and learning practices in the classroom.
Students stay up to date with course work, assignments and due dates using Buckhorn Class/Teacher Twitter new feeds. Buckhorn teachers manage numerous Twitter accounts: @BuckhornLib, @BuckhornSeniors, @coachreeseBHS, @MsMaskBTA, @bhs_apLit, @MrDunnsMath, @MsAllenCP, @APCalMassey, @BuckhornChoir, @MrsWoodBHS, and many more.
Ms. Taylor's - Creative Writing
Students researched various types of soldiers in order to write a rhyming couplet play.
Coach Reese - Founding Fathers
Students used Coach Reese's classroom blog to complete research for their papers.
Mr. Livermore - Business Finance
Students played financial soccer.
Professional Development Blog
Teachers comment, critique and share ideas based on a given book study using the Buckhorn High School's PD blog.
Digital Learning Day is about giving every child the opportunity to learn in a robust digital environment everyday, with the goal of success in college and a career.
Mrs. Wilson - 9th English
Students used Story Creator (iPad App) to show a paradox of fire and ice in To Kill A Mockingbird.
Ms. Miller - Medical Interventions
Students used Schoology to access their Project Lead the Way class materials.
Mrs. Pelle -
Students used multiple iPad Apps: National Archives, Women of Influence, Docs Teach.
YouTube Channels
Students utilize their own devices to watch Dr. Dean's recorded lectures on his YouTube channel.
Mrs. White - Spanish I
Students used their own digital devices to text in their responses to various Spanish questions.
Dr. Chumbley - Foods/Nutrition
Students used their own digital devices to research recipes to prepare.
Mrs. Durboraw - Genetics
Students go paperless in Mrs. Durboraw's classes using Edmodo and Google Drive.
