The Stacey Levitt Memorial Award was created in memory and celebration of her life. On August 30, 1995, Stacey was struck and killed by a car while jogging in North Toronto. She was only 18 years old.
Stacey loved life, and this annual student award encourages Canadian youth to embody Stacey’s qualities and ideals, and Parachute’s overarching goal of a long life lived to the fullest, while maintaining an approach that is rooted in risk management and injury prevention. The selected recipient will receive $2,500 to do just that.
The award is open to anyone currently attending a Canadian secondary school. The deadline to apply is March 01, 2017. The successful recipient will be selected by the Levitt family and announced on April 30, 2017
Application Process:
The application consists of three parts, all which must be submitted to Parachute to be considered for the award. Please ensure all three parts are included in the submission package.
- A completed application form.
- A letter of recommendation from an individual with first-hand knowledge of the applicant’s involvement in their school or community.
- A short essay (maximum 2 pages, double-spaced, font size 12) addressing the following questions:
- How do you demonstrate a long life lived to the fullest and how are you helping others to achieve this?
- How do you demonstrate Parachute’s goals, and brand values of nobility, courage, and inclusivity?
- If successful, how do you intend to use the funding provided by the Stacey Levitt Memorial Award?

How to Apply for a Scholarship:
Students can apply for a scholarship at any time. All you need to do is fill out and submit our online Student Application Form and follow the specific instructions below.
Please note that if you are not selected to receive a scholarship, you can secure a spot on the expedition only by fundraising or paying for the expedition fee.

Students can apply for a scholarship through our online application form. In the “Paying the Expedition Fee: Self-financing, Fundraising, & Scholarships” section of the form, be sure to check off that you will apply for a scholarship.
