Going Trick-or-Treating? Be Safe!
New Programs
NWEA Skills Navigator: We will be retaking NWEA in the winter and the spring. To help you show growth in math and reading, we will be working in NWEA Skills Navigator regularly. You will most likely have 1-2 math or reading activities to complete each week. Since Skills Navigtor is at your level, you can do this on your own with minimum support from your learning coach. Some activities will be completed in class connect sessions, and some will be completed on your own. Any time spent in Skills Navigator can be logged in under your Skills Navigator attendance on your daily plan.

RAZ Kids: RAZ Kids is an excellent reading program that students should be reading in for 20 minutes a day. In RAZ Kids you can listen to a story, read a story on your own, record yourself reading, and answer comprehension questions. Each activity you complete earns you points. The more points you earn, the closer you will be to moving up a level! Your student's NWEA scores were used to determine their reading level in RAZ kids. However, if the reading level is too easy or too hard, please notify the homeroom teacher immediately. We are working on adding an attendance tab for RAZ Kids. Until that is available, you may log RAZ Kids time under your reading course.

Typing: Typing.com is a new, free web-site we are encouraging students to use this year. While this is not a requirement like RAZ Kids and NWEA Skills Navigator, we do encourage you to practice your typing skills on a regular basis. Any time spent typing can be logged under your technology hours.

Writing Update
We are almost done with our narrative writing! We will wrap up with editing this week and will partner share next week. The final writing is due on Friday, November 6 at 4:00.
As a reminder, you will be receiving two grades on this assignment. One grade will be for completing the activities we have done so far, and the second grade will be on the overall quality of the writing. If you have missed any writing sessions, please make sure you watch the recording and complete the corresponding activity.

Choose Own Novel Units
In literature 4 there are several units where you will need to choose your own novel. This is for units 4, 13, 18, and 25.
In order to make an appropriate choice, please refer to your lexile score from NWEA. This was sent to you via kmail. (photo 1)
Then, use this lexile score to choose a book from the OLS. (photo 2)
I would suggest checking this book out at the library, but you could also borrow from a friend or buy it from a bookstore or Amazon.
Lastly, go into the OLS and begin reading and completing the lessons that follow. (photo 3)
