Federico Pena
Early Life and Background
Federico was born in Laredo, Texas in 1947. He spent several years studying at the University of Texas Law and became a lawyer in El Paso. He moved to Denver in 1973. He worked hard and successfully for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund. Because of his hard work and dedication, he was able to get elected to the Colorado House of Representatives.
Contributions to Society
He funded building the Denver International Airport, a local library, a convention center, and a Denver basketball team. He designated hundreds of landmarks for the state and 33 districts. In 1993, he ran as the Secretary of Transportation under Bill Clinton.
