What does Moderate activity mean?

Kids will breathe harder and their hearts will beat faster. They should be able to talk, but not sing. The following examples include:

• Speed walking

• Skating

• Bike riding

• Skateboarding

What does Vigorous activity mean?

Kids heart rate will increase even more and they will not be able to say more than a few words without catching a breath. This includes the following:

• Running

• Basketball

• Soccer

• Cross-country skiing

The Importance of Strenghtening Activities

Strengthening activities are important for this age group because they build up the muscles, increase bone structure. These activities include push-ups and curl-ups.
