This is the periodic media center newsletter of the Plainfield High School. It contains information that teachers may find helpful and is the primary means of communication about what is happening in the media center.
Teachers: What services can the media center offer you?
As a certified teacher, Lael DuBois can:
- Compile information from websites, research databases, and e-books for your class assignments
- Instruction on Office 365 for students or teachers
- Talk about books with your students
- Develop collaborative units with teachers to integrate technology into lessons
- Co-Teach a lesson/unit
- Assist with research
- Teach web programs and tools to you or your students
- Order videos, books or other materials
- Design tutorials and lessons
- Professional Development
- Help in any other way

Mission of the PHS Media Center
The mission of PHS Media Center is to assist students, teachers and administrators in fulfilling their educational goals. The media center is dedicated to assisting students to become independent, effective researchers and users of information, to become critical thinkers, capable users of technology and successful communicators. It is also the mission of the media center to support learning and reading for pleasure.
Goals for the 2015-2016 School Year
- Provide individual instruction/assistance to students attending/visiting the media center. Customize needs to each student.
- Support 1:1 technology.

Scheduling
Please email Lael DuBois with the date and period you want to bring your classes to the media center. She can also work with you on creating projects, assignments, or incorporating technology into your lesson.
Poster Printing
Please send a PDF file to Lael DuBois or our Tech Aide, Jenna Tucker, so we can turn it into a poster for you. Also include the size of poster that you need.
Checking out an e-book
Check out the PHS Media Center website under "Library Catalog" that gives detailed instructions on how to check out an e-book on any device. This is for both teachers and students; if your teacher account isn't activated, please email Lael DuBois and she will get it set up for you.
Online Newspapers
Students and staff have access to the Indianapolis Star and USA Today newspapers. There are limited daily ecopies.

Accessing the TV channels
- Open Internet Explorer (this program prefers IE).
- Click on the link - http://mediacast.plainfield.k12.in.us/
- Use the same login / password as you log into your computer.
- Click on "Live TV" at the top of the page.
- Scroll over to the TV channel of your choice.
- Double click on the TV channel.
- Don't forget to logout when you are finished.

Lael DuBois is a certified School Librarian / Library Media Specialist (grades K-12) who has been the media specialist / school librarian at Plainfield High School for 9 years. Prior to that, she was the school librarian at Pike High School and Pike Freshman Center.
