Meet our newest TUNErs

... Welcome to TUNE family!

Ryan Smits, SDE 3 (TMC) | Seattle

Professional Background:

Prior to TUNE I was a founder of a crowd sourcing startup and before that spent years as the owner of a boutique consulting firm splitting time between early stage startup projects and enterprise type client projects. Outside of work, I spend most of my time chasing my kids around.

What attracted you to TUNE:

I am excited about TUNE's product direction and the technical challenges that come with it like scaling, micro services, and big data.

Outside of Work:

When I'm not doing that, I enjoy skiing, travel, hiking, and food. I occasionally try my hand at making wine and beer; its a work in progress.

Jeremy Brown, SDE 2 (HO) | Seattle

Professional Background:

When I started college I originally planned on becoming an electrical engineer, but about 1/2 way through I realized I was more passionate about software and switched to an Information Systems program. My first job reflected that as it was a hybrid electrical/software engineering role at Fluke where I designed and maintained automated test systems used on a manufacturing line. After about a year I transitioned into a software developer role for a shipping a logistics company called Expeditors. While there I worked as a full stack developer on an internal warehouse management product and later on a carrier allocation decision engine. Most recently I worked for a company called Appature (now IMS Health), that develops a SaaS marketing platform targeting the pharmaceutical industry. While there, my focus was on back-end platform services, which largely entailed pulling apart monolithic code bases into packages and microservices.

What attracted you to TUNE:

TUNE is operating in an exciting space with challenging problems and presents a great opportunity to grow as an engineer. Further, I'm attracted to companies that value people; people who work for them, people in the community and people in the industry. TUNE and TUNE House seem to embody these sentiments, which fascinated me with the company.

Outside of Work:

Outside of work I'm an avid modifier of mechanical/electrical devices and software systems. This covers a gamut of my personal possessions, but includes installing bolt-ons

to my Evo X and then dyno tuning it, custom calibrations for all my displays, overclocking everything I can, custom i3/xmonad configs for my Arch installs and if I'm playing a game it

minimally has Reshade (Sweetfx) enabled. When I'm not tinkering with things I can be found at the gym, at home watching shows and movies or playing video games.
