About the Contest
The open design contest is an idea or innovation contest for college students of all streams. The contest lists socially and environmentally relevant products that people use in their day to day life, and sources ideas from students as to how to make the product better in terms of time, cost, quality, sustainability, and inclusiveness.
In Brief
Our brief is based on Bill Gates' Innovating to Zero vision, which emphasizes the need for innovators to bring down the environmental and social cost of their products. We will evaluate your ideas through FORCE's Open Design Pyramid, an idea framework that consists of the following aspects:
1) Mission
2) Business Vision and Corporate Values
3) Time, Cost, Quality
4) HR, Production Process, Financial feasibility, and Customer Acceptance
5) Efficiency in terms of water, air, energy, materials, and Eco-system
In essence, we seek ideas that are marketable but yet that cause no or little damage to natural resources or livelihoods and lives of people. You can take into consideration as many aspects of the above themes as possible, before submitting your ideas.
