What's Happening at School?
Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire
What is the Iowa Tier?
The Graettinger-Terril and Ruthven-Ayrshire elementary teachers use the Iowa Tier data system to administer tests, view, analyze, and share data on student performance in reading. The preschool, kindergarten, and first-grade students take tests on letters, sounds, and word knowledge. The kindergarten through sixth-grade students take the A-Reading test for comprehension and a CBM-R test to measure fluency and accuracy in the fall, winter, and spring. The students who are below proficiency are progress monitored weekly to make decisions about student needs in the area of reading. Interventions are used with a whole class, in small groups, or individually from the need shown in the data.
Interactive Whiteboards in the Classrooms
The Graettinger-Terril and Ruthven-Ayrshire Schools have placed interactive whiteboards in the classrooms for teacher and student use. These boards can be used as a whiteboard, for projection, or with interactive activities. It is a great resource for staff to enhance student learning.
