Riddles
By Ben Agaipour & Dylan Stickle
1. Why was the mechanic never lonely?
2. What has four legs but can't walk?
3. What has four wheels and flies?
4. Why didn't the rooster ride the rollercoaster?
5. What runs but doesn't walk and has a bed but never sleeps?
Dramatis Personae
On the 17th of February, we went to Dramatis Personae. That is where the Middle School students dress up and act like American heroes. Some of them were Neil Armstrong, Tim Howard, Helen Keller, Sacajawea, Julia Child, and Thomas Edison. They did everything they could to make themselves look like famous people. Believe it or not, the girl who played Julia Child acted like Julia Child the whole time! It didn't matter which booth you went to see. All of the Middle School students had activities at their booths.
Tim Howard was a famous soccer player who played for the U.S.A. and England. His activity was where you were the soccer goalie, and he flicked a cotton ball and you had to stop it from going into the goal. Another person was Sacajawea, and her activity was making traditional Indian headdresses, and Thomas Edison's activity was a Snap Circuits activity using the light bulb piece.
My favorite person was Thomas Edison because of his activity and because I love Snap Circuits!
Reader's Theater
Every year in the spring we have Reader's Theater. Reader's Theater started about four years ago at Williamsburg Montessori School. Second and third grade Lower Elementary students pair up with Children's House students and help them learn how to read.
A teacher picks a script for a group to perform. Each student gets a different part, and the Lower Elementary students help the Children's House students to learn their parts. Then after about six weeks of practicing, the group dresses up and performs it in front of their parents.
This year you can look forward to seeing Where the Wild Things Are, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and The Napping House. Hope to see you there!

Poetry
A pond
A frog jumps in
The sound of water.
Shining golden manes,
Roaming the wild,
I love horses.
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
If you like the Jedi,
May the Force be with you!

Ms. Darlene's Music Class
The children have enjoyed learning to play "Yankee Doodle Dandy" on their recorders.
This photo was taken while Ms. Sinead's class attended music. Stay tuned for Ms. Nicole's class in the future!
Please enjoy another new feature this month . . . Click to listen to your children play "Yankee Doodle Dandy" on their recorders below!
My Music Teacher
Ms. Sue, my music teacher, started teaching music in 1998 when she was in college. She started playing the keyboard and piano at the age of seven. Today she plays keyboard, piano, bassoon, the drums, and sings in a choir. Her favorite type of music is romantic.
I have been taking keyboarding lessons with Ms. Sue since November of 2015. I am currently practicing a song called All the Little Ducklings. I enjoyed interviewing Ms. Sue.

Lower Elementary 2 Auction Project
Each year every class at Williamsburg Montessori School makes a project for the auction. The project is auctioned off to raise money for the school. Parents usually bid on projects made by their child's class.
This year we customized a beach chair. Here is how we did it:
Step 1 - Bought a wooden chair.
Step 2 - Sanded the chair.
Step 3 - Painted the chair.
Step 4 - Painted a tree on the chair.
Step 5 - Put our thumb prints on the tree to be leaves.
I wonder how much money we will raise for our school?
Country Reports
The Country Reports have been going on for eleven years now. Ms. Nicole started the Country Reports. The country I am researching is Japan. Japan has a lot of earthquakes and volcanoes, but it can be good because the volcanoes produce hot springs to heat homes and provide hot water.
Third-year students in Lower Elementary present their Country Reports each year. This year Carter Perry is doing Italy. Ella Edmonds is also doing Italy. Emmanuel Atiyeh is doing Germany. Lyon Jones-Rutledge is doing Sri Lanka. Alex Obadal is doing Brazil. Gizelle Taylor is doing France. Ethan Garza is doing Argentina. Ben Agaipour is doing Israel. Dylan Stickle is doing China. These reports will be presented on May 23. Lower Elementary 1 students will present from 12:45-1:45pm, and Lower Elementary 2 students will present from 1:45-2:45pm.
