The Dolphin Whistle
September 23rd, 2015 - Issue 6
Mariano Castro/Gabriela Mistral Walkathon is on Friday, October 9th! This is a family event and we hope to see all families there supporting the students, enjoying the food, and silent auction, and getting to know each other! Pledge sheets went home with students on Friday. Please support your child in obtaining pledges for walking as the money that Castro students raise in pledges goes directly to Castro PTA. The PTA supports activities such as field trips and helps to buy library books and instructional materials. Thank you again to those who have already volunteered to help on this important day!

Mistral/Castro Gardening is underway—Join Us!
Parent participation makes all the difference. Another Garden Help Day is scheduled for October 10th, 10am – noon. Please join us, if only for a few minutes to introduce ourselves, visit the fenced Garden and see what exciting things are happening!
Incoming Kinder parents have shown great interest in adopting the planters outside their classrooms. LYNN OWANO will be coordinating this planting. A sign up sheet will be posted outside the Kinder classrooms to sign up for a planting day. Other Mariano Castro students/families that wish to care for the barrels in front of their classroom can contact Shelly Kosak (email@example.com).
The Garden is looking for caretakers of the following: replanting and reviving our rose bushes; replanting and expanding our succulents collection; a native plants coordinator; building an additional arbor for the vigorous native grape vine, among many other projects!
