Georgia Curriculum Frameworks
Please see below for information regarding a video featuring Georgia educators using Georgia Curriculum Frameworks tasks and the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement High School Graduate Outcomes Report.
1. 1. What does is look like when Mathematics Curriculum Frameworks tasks are used in the classroom? To answer this question, we filmed several classrooms in two Georgia elementary schools in which teachers are using Georgia Curriculum Frameworks tasks. The resulting brief video is designed as a professional learning resource intended to spark discussion and reflection among teachers, mathematical instructional coaches, administrators, and parents. You can view the video at: https://www.georgiastandards.org/Georgia-Standards/Pages/Looking-Inside-Mathematics-Classrooms.aspx .
2. The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement recently released the High School Graduate Outcomes Report for our public high schools. You can find the complete report at https://hsgrad.gosa.ga.gov/ . Data is reported at the state and high school level. The state level data regarding the percentage of Georgia high school graduates requiring mathematics remediation from 2007 to 2014 is particularly encouraging. Please find attached a chart reflecting the outcomes.
Georgia Milestones Practice
We are writing to share with you that a refreshed Experience Online Testing Georgia site recently went live (at the link you will see at the bottom of this message).
As was the case when the site was first made available in October 2015, it contains a demonstration test for each of three grade bands – grades 3-5, grades 6-8, and high school – with sample items from each content area. The primary purpose of this website is to provide exposure to the online platform that students will utilize when taking the Georgia Milestones tests.
While the site includes the same content, and serves the same purpose as the original version, it now also includes examples of ‘technology-enhanced’ items that will appear on this spring’s test forms.
Importantly, items of this type will be administered as FIELD TEST items only this spring. As you likely know, field test items do not apply to student scores.
Another feature available in the refreshed site is the Standard read-aloud (text-to-speech) accommodation.
Please note that the Conditional read-aloud accommodation for ELA passages can only be accessed through the Secure Practice Tests available in the INSIGHT testing platform. System Test Coordinators have been provided information about the Secure Practice Tests during recent webinar trainings.
We hope this resource is helpful for you and your students. Best wishes!
