This week is Peace Camp Week!

Be Peace, Teach Peace

Our theme at Lake Air Montessori this year is "Be Peace, Teach Peace". We will discuss ways to make the world a more peaceful place, feature events that celebrate peace, or introduce you to remarkable people who are creating peace in the world today. We encourage you to share these ideas with your family, your children, your students, your neighbors, even with strangers. If we all work at it, we can make the world a more peaceful place—one person at a time.

What is Peace Camp?

Peace Camp is the culminating service project prepared by the middle school students. This year's theme is focused on Global Citizenship. Students will learn about the global water crisis, education around the world, fight against hunger, global peace efforts and awareness for different cultures. Middle school students lead younger students during their Peace Camp day in a variety of activities and learning opportunities. Please be sure to ask your student what they learned during Peace Camp! See the dates below to find their scheduled day.

Morning Drop Off Procedures

For the safety of all students, staff and families please abide by the following procedures:
  • There is NO stopping in the middle of the parking lot.
  • Use the drop-off lanes as much as possible.
  • Please stay in your car and move up while in the drop-off lane.
  • Parents who choose to drop students off in the parking lot will need to park and have your student use the crosswalk.

Big Decisions

Waco ISD will be providing the board-approved Big Decisions comprehensive abstinence plus sexuality education curriculum in 7th and 9th grade science classes during the week of May 16 to May 20. If you wish to have your children Opt-Out of the program, contact your campus via phone, email or note.

You may view the program curriculum online. Click here.

Parent Involvement Surveys

Please take a moment to complete the parent involvement survey. Your input helps make LAMM a better place for students to succeed! This same survey was also sent home on paper. You only need to complete one survey.

AVID Strategy of the Week

Each week we are going to highlight an AVID strategy you can incorporate into your classroom or parents can discuss with students at home.

This week's strategy is the Team Huddle. The team huddle is a great way to get kids up and moving. Lively music is suggested and this can be an indoor or outdoor activity. Play the music, students move freely throughout the space to the music. When the music stops the facilitator calls out a number...teams huddle in this number and share on the topic that the facilitator calls out.
