Principal Toleman's News!
I am having a hard time believing that but I am hopeful that sunshine and warm weather are on their way. I know the children, as well as the adults, are anxious to get outside and enjoy some beautiful weather. Our grades 3-5 students finished their first round of NYS testing, having completed the ELA exams. The fifth grade students took their exams on the computers for the first time and the feedback was quite positive once everything was up and running. The next round of testing is on May 1-3 for the NYS Common Core Math Exam. PARP was a huge success as we took on the theme "Celebrate our Differences." Students engaged in a variety of activities both at home and school to encourage and promote reading. A huge shout out to Mrs. Kiernan and Mrs. Robin Johnson for organzing PARP and to the teachers for their support. Thank you to all the families for reading with your children and continuing to foster that love of a good book.
Our fourth grade students had the opporutnity to work with The Don't Wait Project: Unmake a Bully. They created Public Service Announcements in regards to anti-bullying and they were involved in the entire process. Some students were actors and actresses, others were producers or worked behind the scenes on lighting, etc. Whatever their role was, it was an important one and the final products were outstanding and sent strong messages.
The next few months will go quickly as they always do. If you should have any concerns regarding your child, please don't hesitate to reach out to their teacher or myself. It is always our goal to make sure we are meeting the needs of all of our students and we welcome the conversation.
Respectfully,
Rebecca Toleman
Don't forget the school Budget Vote on May 15th at Ballard and Tanglewood Elementary Schools.

Mrs.Becerril's Class!
Mrs. Becceril’s third grade students worked on a STEM project. Their task was to build a bridge sturdy enough for Smiley O’Reilly the leprechaun to cross with 100 coins. All they had to use was a piece of paper, 5 paper clips, and a piece of tape! They had to work together to design and test their bridge! All groups had success by the second design! One group even had success in their first design!

Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders/Student Safety
- Students should not be dropped off before 8:55 as we do not have supervision for them before that time.
- When you enter the campus for pick up, please enter on the east side by the large parking lot. The west side by Jan Avenue is where the busses come in for dismissal so we need to make sure it is clear for them to safely pick up the students.
- A reminder to pay attention to the spots marked for handicap parking.
- Please use the main entrance when you are visiting the school both during school hours as well as after school events. During the school day, please check in at the main office.
