From Palmer River Elementary School
March 31, 2023
Dear Families,
This week, we were very lucky to have Earthview visit from Bridgewater State University. Mrs. Kelly Hall from our kindergarten team served as the facilitator and presenter for this program. She shared and presented to our entire student body over the course of three days. Students loved the experience of climbing inside of the Earth and looking at the continents and oceans from the inside. Without Mrs. Hall to facilitate, we may not have been able to bring this program to our school, so we are very grateful. Thank you, also, to Mr. Kepnes who relocated physical education classes for several days while the Earth took up residence in our gymnasium. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out anytime. We are happy to help.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal

A New Addition to the Playground!
Recently, Mrs. Tracy Lancellotta, a PRES parent, SEPAC member, and Southcoast Collaborative employee who supports students at the PRES campus applied for a grant to the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism to acquire a communication board for our playground area. Visual aids, like our new communication board pictured above, support a wide range of learners with differing abilities. We are proud to create a play environment that is inclusive and fun for all! Thank you Mrs. Lancellotta, for your commitment and supporting our school and students.

Notes from the Nurse's Office
Dear Palmer River Friends and Families,
The Health Office is already finding ticks on our students. If one is found on your child, you will be notified by telephone and/or note in your childβs backpack. We will indicate the tick type and the lifecycle stage.
Please remember to check your child and pets when they come inside. It is recommended to have the kids wear long sleeves and tuck their pants into their socks when playing outdoors. Light clothing will allow for easier identification of the nymph deer tick. It may be helpful to use a lint roller to catch them before they begin to latch on.
The general rule of thumb is a tick needs to be attached for 24 hours to spread disease. When in doubt, call your pediatrician for instructions. Your childβs doctor will likely have you monitor your child for a skin rash, and for any symptoms of illness.
