Kennedy Parent Newsletter

September 2020

Off to a GREAT Start

We made it though the first three days of school. I want to tell you how much I have appreciated our Kennedy families!! You have helped to make the drop off go smooth and have had the students prepared for the added changes of wearing masks, hand washing/sanitizing, and social distancing. As a reminder, please be sure that you have communicated with your child on what they are to do at the end of the day after school dismisses at 1:32

Free meals: Fargo Public Schools received a grant to provide all students FREE breakfast and lunch. If you would like meals on your distance learning days (days at home learning), you will need to preorder the meals a week in advance. The link will for this is below.

COVID-19: As we move forward, it is important for you to monitor your child (and others who live in your home) for COVID-19 related symptoms. We ask that you call your primary healthcare provider for further instructions and get a test for active COVID-19 infection. STAY HOME until the test results are received. Please call the Kennedy attendance number (446-4206) if your child is ill or has an appointment.

My hope will be that we return to a "new normal" (a level 4) when we can all be face-to-face. When we do this, we will still have precautions, such as masks, hand washing/sanitizing, and social distancing. The decision regarding what level we are will be made every 2 weeks. (The next meeting is September 21st.)

Additional Information

Update POWERSCHOOL Information REMINDER: Update ALL phone numbers, emails and addresses in PowerSchool during the year. This is how we reach you if your child is ill or messages that need to be sent out. If you are not receiving a monthly newsletter or Blackboard Connect messages (email, phone calls, or texts), go in and check your PowerSchool settings.

Dropoff & Pick up: Do not drop off your child prior to 7:55 am. We do not have supervision for them until 7:55. Pick up at the end of the day is at 1:32 in our Level 3 Hybrid model.

Playgrounds: The school playgrounds are closed during the school day and are open at 4:00 pm.

Guided Practice Center: The Guided Practice Center is an opportunity for school staff support on distance learning days. Parents were sent an interest survey in August. There is criteria for acceptance into the Guided Practice Center. More information will be provided this week to those who expressed interest.

Big picture

Summer Workbooks

Did your student(s) complete (or at least partially complete) a ThinkStretch summer workbook over break??? If so, please email their first and last name, grade, and teacher to orpenfam@gmail.com. We can't have our traditional medal ceremony this year, but we want to find a way to recognize the students who worked hard and participated in this program. Congratulations to all of you!!!
