Trauma-Informed Art Therapy® Level One [June 12, 13, & 14, 2014] presents the foundations of trauma-informed practice and the latest research and approaches to art making, stress reduction and resilience in Fort Collins, Colorado [an hour north from Denver International Airport, one hour from Denver and one hour from Boulder area].
Participants have the option to take the three-day course, or one-day and two-day options to learn art therapy and expressive arts therapy strategies and applications to increase their understanding of trauma-informed approaches, enhance resilience in various client populations, support self-regulation and reduce stress responses to trauma and loss. Participants will engage in a variety of hands-on experiences using mind-body, mindfulness, wellness and strength-based best practices grounded in emerging research. The essential practices presented in this course can be applied to individuals of all ages and families, groups and communities from a culturally-responsive, trauma-informed approach.
Continuing Education Credits and Expressive Arts Therapy Coursework
Attendance of the three day sequence qualifies for 18 continuing education credits from the National Board of Certified Counselors [NBCC Provider #6557] and completion of Trauma-Informed Art Therapy Level One Certificate; a small additional fee is charged for a continuing education certificate, but your Level One Certificate is included in the three-day fee. You may also choose to attend Day One [Foundations of Trauma-Informed Art Therapy] only or Days Two and Three [Art Therapy Approaches to Enhance Resilience and Self-Regulation]; each day provides 6 continuing education credits for a small additional fee and you will also receive a Certificate of Completion from the Trauma-Informed Practices and Expressive Arts Therapy Institute at no additional charge.
For those working toward their Registration as an Expressive Arts Therapist with International Expressive Arts Therapy Association: Cathy Malchiodi, PhD, is also a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist [REAT]; these offerings count toward clock-hours of expressive arts therapies courses. A transcript of courses attended toward the REAT is issued at an additional fee for those submitting course attendance to IEATA upon successful completion of these courses.
