News Channel Nebraska Senior Salute
We here at News Channel Nebraska would like to salute our upcoming graduates!
A form is available online at US92 (http://us92.com/senior-salute/)for senior parents to complete and submit along with a photo of their senior. This will then be aired on NCN 35 with a salute to the school and community. Please let your seniors know about this fun opportunity. All submissions must be in by April 15. The segment will air in May.
American Legion Post #16 Senior Scholarship
American Legion Post #16 offers to award at each Norfolk High School one $500.00 scholarship to an eligible son or daughter, or stepson or stepdaughter, or grandson or granddaughter, or step-grandson or step-granddaughter, of a current Norfolk Post #16 or Squadron 16 Sons of the American Legion member in good standing. The eligible applicant must be a graduating high school senior. Click here for more information and an application. Applications are due in the counseling center on April 7th at noon.
Norfolk Soccer Club Scholarship
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Must be a member of the graduation class.
2. Must have participated in Norfolk Soccer Club for a minimum of two (2) years.
Information and Regulations:
1. The application for the scholarship must be submitted to your high school guidance counselor by 12:00 pm, Monday, April 10, 2017. Please use your school id number for the applicant number.

2. Selection of the winners will be done by the board of directors of the Norfolk Soccer Club. Any
member of the board who has a conflict of interest will recuse themselves. All applications will
be number coded for identification and names of applicants will be unknown to the Norfolk
Soccer Club Board until after the selection has been made.
3. The award certificate and check will be given to the high school guidance counselor, for
presentation to the winner at an appropriate awards ceremony held by the winners’ high school.
4. The Norfolk Soccer Club Board will judge each applicant on the following criteria.
- Educational Goals:
- Career Plans:
- School and Community Activities: (Include number of years, involvement, achievements, etc.)
- Your soccer participation: (Number of years, team environment, etc.)
- How did you benefit from the Norfolk Soccer Club and the sport of soccer?
Elementary Scholarships
Any senior student who attended Bel Air, Grant, Jefferson, Montessori, Washington, Westside, or Woodland Park elementary schools can apply for scholarships from that school. There is one application (below) that is used for all of those schools listed. Deadline is April 14th. Please return completed applications to the counseling center.
Norfolk Noon Optimist Club
The Norfolk Noon Optimist Club will be awarding $500.00 Carol Gall Memorial Scholarships this year to high school seniors. Click here for an application to be filled out by student and a form to be filled out by a counselor. Please return completed application materials to the address on the application by April 15th. Scholarship recipients will be invited to a Noon Optimist luncheon at a later date.
Norfolk Panther Booster Club Scholarship
(for seniors who have parents that are members of the Booster Club)
Due in the counseling center of May 5th.
Johnny Baxter Carriage House Foundation Scholarship
The Johnny Baxter Carriage House Foundation is pleased to announce the continuation of its scholarship program for students interested in attending one of Nebraska's Community Colleges to study in an automotive related field. A $1,500 grant will be awarded in each of the six Community College areas in Nebraska for students pursuing training for an automotive career. Students who meet the following criteria my submit their application:
- All seniors planning to attend a Nebraska Community College in the fall of 2017
- Applicant must be planning to enroll in one of the automotive related courses of study.
- Applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from at least one teacher describing the applicant's aptitude and attitude and student must include a transcript of his/her grades.
- Applicant must submit a cover letter to be attached to the applicant form indicating his/her interest in the automotive field and their plan for technical traning.
- An interview and reference letter from a New Car Dealer would be given additional consideration.
- Applicant must meet the above criteria and submit his/her application to the Carriage House Foundation no later than Friday, April 7, 2017.
College of Hair Design Scholarship $1,000 Scholarship
The Hair Art Scholarship is open to anyone with a desire to pursue a career in hair design. Recipients are chosen for their desire to pursue such a career and the potential they have shown form their past successes in school and community activities. Meadow Grove Federal Credit Union Scholarship
Meadow Grove Federal Credit Union will give away a $500.00 scholarship to a 2017 graduating senior that is a member in good standing at the Credit Union. Applicants are to write a short essay explaining their plans and how this scholarship will benefit him/her personally and his/her community. Applicants will also need to attach this completed cover sheet. The deadline for scholarship applications to be returned to the address listed on the cover sheet is April 14th.
2017 Northeast Nebraska Ag Community Scholarship
This is a $750 scholarship for a senior with a "C" or higher GPA from Madison, Wayne, Stanton, Peirce, Antelope, Boone, or northern Platte County sponsored by the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce and Madison Chamber of Commerce. Completed applications should be emailed to Jeny Albin at jalbin@norfolkareachamber.com or sent to the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce by April 14th.
TransCanada Empower Communities Scholarships
At TransCanada, we support education and training opportunities in the communities where we do business. Through these efforts we aim to build community capacity, develop the next generation of community leaders, and provide a skilled workforce for our industry.
Our new TransCanada Empower Communities Scholarships are helping students in Canada and the U.S. access education in a range of disciplines.
Click on the links below to learn more about the three scholarships offered and how you can apply. TransCanada will be accepting applications annually from January 15 to April 15.
Please note, the TransCanada Empower Communities Scholarships are not offered to those directly related to a current TransCanada employee or contractor.
Nebraska Agri-Women Scholarship
This $250 scholarship is for any student planning on receiving an Agricultural related degree from either a College or a Technical Trade School in Nebraska. Applications should be completed and returned to the address listed on the scholarship by April 15th.
