Black History Month Resources Offered
More resources are offered for you this week for talking about Black History month. Also, take some time to reflect on how your classroom conversations and teaching have been going from the lens of equity.
Keeping Equity in Practice.
Reflect:
Are conversations authentic surrounding history?
Is the information salient and accurate?
Are the images and resources we are using building up and supporting a positive learning experience for our students with differences, and barriers to learning?

Biometric Screening and Online Health Assessment Screenings Deadlines Approaching
If you are enrolled in the District health insurance through Humana, you will need to complete both a biometric screening and the online health assessment this month to receive the lower wellness premium rate. If you have a spouse on the plan, they are strongly encouraged to complete both activities as well to learn about their health and earn points, however it is not required. If you have not scheduled a biometric screening, there are only a few openings left in our District. You can find several openings on February 15 by clicking on the link "(Additional Options) Biometric Screening at the Administration Building." Be sure to schedule your appointment today at this link.
The deadlines are as follows:
Biometric Screenings Off-Site (Primary Care Provider): Feb. 14
Biometric Screenings On-Site via Veribook Appointments: Feb. 28

Injury Prevention Session Offered for NJSD Staff
An injury is never fun; especially if it interferes with your goals. Join Dr. Erica Kroncke, non-surgical sports medicine physician from Aurora Health Care, as she talks about how to stay healthy and prevent common injuries that can lead to day-to-day pains.
In this virtual presentation specifically for NJSD employees, you will learn ergonomics to help with back and neck pain, a proper way to warm up before activities, and ways to break bad habits that may be leading to injuries or pain. There will be a question-and-answer portion for anyone that joins live. Click here for the video link and more information.
