From the Principal...Kristy McKnight

Thank you to the PTO for a wonderful mum sale and for those of you that volunteered during mum pick up! Having the front sidewalk filled with such beautiful flowers made me so excited for fall!

I had the opportunity to join many classrooms this week. I cannot tell you how happy I was to be back in learning spaces with students. I not only observed math lessons, I also joined a remote classroom for announcements, was a Mystery Reader, got outside for PE, and observed music lessons. Your children truly fill my bucket! I was so impressed with the learning. Even though our environments look a little differently, they still feel the same!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Kristy McKnight

Parent Resource Survey

It is important to us at Ferson Creek that we provide a community of care and support to our families, especially when faced with financial hardship.

The current situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic has caused some families to experience a need related to job loss, medical bills, child care, etc. District 303 has several supports available for families through our schools.

The supports available include: Big Hearts of Fox Valley Holiday Support Program and St. Charles Women's Club.

In order for us to best support those in our community, we are asking you to please fill out the survey found here, even if you choose not to participate in the available supports.

It would be most helpful to us if you could please complete this survey no later than Thursday, October 1st.

Thank you!

Just a Reminder

Don't forget your mask! If you are coming into the building vestibule or if you are walking on our front sidewalk, you need to be wearing a mask. Thank you for your cooperation!

Recess Bags

Many of you received information regarding recess bags for your children. If you didn't, please don't worry, your teacher will be sharing it soon. The goal of the bag is for each child to have a recess bag that contains independent activities that your child enjoys. This bag of items could be used during indoor or outdoor recess. Students who are new to Ferson will receive a new drawstring bag. Students who were at Ferson last year should reuse the same bag. If you need a replacement, they are $2 each and can be purchased through PushCoin.

Erin's Law

Attached you will find a letter regarding Erin's Law, an Illinois law requiring schools to provide a prevention-oriented child abuse program for students in grades K-12. The letter shares information regarding our instructional resource and focus, as it pertains to Erin's Law. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Directory Spot

We are preparing this year’s family and staff directory, called DirectorySpot. Even if you were in the directory in the past, families must grant permission and share their information each year, in order to be included in the directory. Whether your child(ren) is in-person or remote, we would love to have your family included!

You will be able to access it from a free app (iPhone or Android) or from the web. Once we have all of the data loaded, you will get an email with instructions on how to download DirectorySpot and set your own password. (The directory is very secure and only families and staff of Ferson Creek Elementary will be granted access. Each user will sign in with their authorized email address and will set their own password. More information on the security features is available on the DirectorySpot website.)
Please provide your family's permission and information here: https://tinyurl.com/FersonDirectory20-21
