All Eggs on Market are SOY FREE & NON-GMO
First of all, ALL items at the market are GMO Free. We have very strict requirements at our market and all vendors are required to sign a Non- GMO Pledge. I turn away vendors that do not meet our requirements. To see our requirements click here: http://suwanee.locallygrown.net/files/document/document/4565/original/Suwanee_Grower_Requirements-2016_Rev_1.docx
All the eggs on the market are soy free. We do not allow eggs to be sold that are given supplemental feed that contains any soy, period, organic or not. Research done indicates that soy isoflavones are transferred into the yolks of chickens and when humans eat soy fed chicken/duck eggs these estrogen mimicking hormones can accumulate causing various health problems. This is one of the main reasons why I tell people not to eat store bought "vegetarian fed" eggs - they are full of soy even if they are organic.
What's the difference between the eggs? The main difference is what they are fed. All hens from all farms are allowed access to pasture to graze and forage for bugs and worms. They all get supplemental feed in addition to what they find on the pasture.
Marty, from Rocky Acres, uses a supplemental feed he hand mixes that contains Non GMO corn, sunflower seed, millet, and other grain products when available.
Bill at Back in Time Farm supplements his hens with sprouted organic wheat and a certified Organic feed with flax seed.
Sam at Cedar Rock Farm and Rusty from Lil Tots Estate both give their flocks a premium non-gmo, non soy feed from Tucker Milling in Alabama in addition to grazing among the cows and goats.
Also, all the farms have different species of hens - Golden Comet, Rhode Island Red, Welsummer, Araucana and Marans to name a few. Different species produce different color eggs -brown, blue, green, white, cream, speckled, etc.
Back in Time Farm will be having a Farm Tour May 7th from 2- 4 pm! RSVP via the ordering website. You and your families will get a chance to meet the chickens and personally see how they raised the right way.
I hope this answers some of your questions and always feel free to contact me or any of the farmers if you have any questions!

NO, there will be no changes to your membership.
What is the name of the new market location?
Starting in March the location in Suwanee will be Suwanee Whole Life Co-op and our current location in Buford will be named Buford Locally Grown. I’ve been wanting to change our name for some time to represent that we are in Buford to make it easier for folks to locate us.
I want everyone to know that I have no intention of shutting down the Buford location. I will continue to grow and expand both markets!
Please send me any other questions you have! I will have more information soon.

Fry Farm - Many of you were asking about Fry Farm at last week's market. Here's a note from Vicky on what's going on at the farm right now: "We are doing great. We have been working hard to get things ready for Spring. We have spinach, celery, green onions, kale and carrots growing and should be ready in about 3 or 4 weeks depending on the weather. Everything is growing very slow this time of year.
I'm starting transplants in the greenhouse. The weather this past week makes me want rush outside and start planting but it is still too early for most things. I just planted dill, parsley, cilantro, onions, fava beans and cress. It's always a gamble planting this early.
