French Grade Update & News

le 6 septembre - Fall 2016

Grades were updated.

Zeros were entered for missing assignments for last Thursday's assignment due date. Students were notified in their news announcements that grades had been updated. Students were also provided feedback about zeros in their gradebooks immediately on Friday morning after the Thursday assignment due date.

The verb "être" (again)

The most important verb you will learn in French is être (to be). Please be sure to learn its
conjugations by heart.

Important grammar terms:

infinitive = unconjugated form of the verb; être is the infinitive of to be.
to conjugate = to make the verb agree with its subject

Definite vs. Indefinite Articles in French

The video below does a great job explaining what definite and indefinite articles in French are and how they work. Click here for a direct link to the YouTube video.

I also review definite and indefinite articles in one of the synchronous session recordings you find in the user links widget of your French course.

Friendly reminder...

PLEASE...

READ all information sent to you and assignment directions carefully!

USE FireFox Mozilla as your web browser.

DO NOT skip pages and practice activities in the content. I can tell what you have looked at and how long you have spent working in your course. As you can imagine, students who have the lowest grades, spend the least amount of time working in the course. The first modules are extremely important. Languages are a progression much like math. If you miss what is being presented now, the rest of the course will be very difficult. Assignments are assessments, so it is supposed to be your best work! I cannot allow students to resubmit assignments! Please don’t hesitate to contact me for help.

LOG IN and check GaVS email daily.

FOLLOW the daily pacing guide/course schedule. Students who wait until a few days before the deadline do not have enough time to work through the content and to contact me for help. To procrastinate is the most detrimental thing you can do in an online class!

TURN in the “Syllabus Acknowledgement” form if you have not yet done so! The dropbox for it is under “Dropboxes." Take a look at this information to help.

DO NOT use online translators! They are are easy to spot and are against GaVS World Languages Honor code. Offenses will be reported to school and parents!

READ the feedback I leave for your assignments and quizzes.

Bradley Cooper speaks French. The proof is below. Yes, he makes errors. But that's not the point. The point is that he communicates well and even interviews in French.

The English Langauge vs. French Language war just won't die :-)

France is a very international country with many people from outside of France living in France, and they don't all learn French. One place where English sometimes becomes dominant is international business.
