A Letter From Shannon 12/222
It was a great first week back from break and we hit the ground running! It is our winter diagnostic assessment time in that we are at the halfway point in the year. The testing window closes when we go on winter break so we will send home the diagnostic reports on Friday, January 13th once we arrive back at school. We are excited to see the growth and progress that our students are able to show on these diagnostic assessments. As always at Cougar Run, we believe in a body of evidence to evaluate the growth and progress of our students. iReady Diagnostics are only one piece of that puzzle. Where they give us great information about where our students currently are, we use a collection of data in our instructional decision making for kids. Teachers will have iReady Diagnostic Growth Reports as a piece of what they discuss with parents at conferences in February. Art Night was a huge success. Thank you to those who were able to join us. The "In and Out" Burger Truck was a hit, too. It was so great to see our kids having so much fun making their art projects. Thank you to Mrs. Barlow and Mrs. Noraddin for your work in making this year's Art Night a huge success. Shout out to Beckie McEachen, Carlie Allain, Ivy Onouye, Stephanie Hinkle, Carla Holmes, Cormack McCoy and Whitney Tomlin for the extra help with set up, clean up and helping to run activities. We are so lucky to have staff and volunteers who help us make these events so successful.

Soft Start and Cold Weather
Just a reminder that our “Soft Start” begins at 8:25 which is the time that the doors will be opened for students to enter for the school day. Students are NOT allowed to be dropped off prior to 8:25 because we do not have any adult supervision until that time. Teachers and staff are busy until that time preparing for our learning day and attending meetings. Our soft start times are the same, regardless of the weather! Students should be in their seats ready to learn by 8:40.
Drop Off and Pick Up Line
- When dropping off or picking up students, please pull all the way forward as far as you can before you stop to let students out. This allows the flow behind you to not get backed up.
- Please only drop students off at the drop off loop, refraining from dropping them in the parking lot and having them walk across the busy drop off line.
- Please do not block the handicapped spots. We have several families who use those spots for their students with disabilities or for their own.
- If you wish to watch your child walk in, please park in the parking lot spots and you are welcome to walk up and watch your kiddo go all the way in.
- Please do not park in the fire lane and get out to walk a child in or to pick one up from school. That is a quick drop off and go kind of flow since it is a fire lane.
- Please pay attention to the staff who are in the orange vests directing traffic. They are there to keep kids safe and keep traffic flowing.
Thank you so much for helping us ensure that safety and traffic flow are the priorities.
