PICTURE DAY - THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10
PAX Leaders at Park Layne Elementary Visited by Captain PAX
Reminder will be hosting a PAX Tools Training for parents soon, so be on the lookout for information on when that will take place. There is no reason for kids to stop being PAX leaders when they leave the building. We talk about being PAX leaders everywhere and all the time, even when no one is looking!
We set a goal of 300 PAX Points to earn a school wide ice cream party and earned it.
We earn a PAX point when the whole class wins a PAX game. That means we had no more than three spleems (mistakes) during the game. Games can last from 5 minutes to 30 minutes or more.
We ate ice cream and had an extra recess too!

Fall Parade and Parties Coming up on October 31 @ 1:45 pm.
Park Layne Elementary
Fall Parade & Parties
What: A Fall Parade in Costume and Fall Parties
When: Thursday, October 31, 2019
Costumes: Students must BRING their costumes to school in a bag. Please keep the following in mind:
No guns, knives, swords or weapons of any kind
No face paint or colored hair spray
No costumes that depict blood, or gore of any kind
No high heeled shoes or long dresses or pants that will keep students from being able to walk the parade route safely
Avoid masks if they impede a child’s ability to see and walk the parade route.
Students must be able to get in costume in the classroom with minimal assistance.
Parade Route: Please plan to join us along the parade route beginning at 1:45. Students will exit the building from each hallway and proceed around the building making a full loop of the school and then circling the back lot and returning to their classrooms. Parents can stand in the grass areas on the outside of the sidewalk anywhere around the building.
Parking: You may park in the front or side parking lots or pull into a grassy area as long as it is not wet.
Heading to Classrooms: Parents may not enter the classrooms until after the parade. Teachers may ask a few parents to come early to help students get dressed but only parents who have been invited and are on a list from the teachers will be permitted to classrooms before the parade. This is just to help with traffic control! Again, we encourage parents to just wait outside for the parade and then go to classrooms after the parade to interact with students at the party.. Parents may enter front or back doors after the parade.
Parties:
Following the parade, parents can join students in their classrooms for the fall party. There will be treats and activities planned for the students by the head room parent.
Treats:
Please do not send in treats or drinks unless the head room parent for your child’s class asks you to. There will be other opportunities to get involved throughout the year. When we get too many things, it is just a waste of time and money as many things end up being thrown away.
Mark your calendars for our upcoming Veterans Day Program on Monday, November 11 at 1:30. All veterans and their families are invited to attend. More information will be coming home with your child in the upcoming weeks.
We Need Your Help - If you are cleaning out, consider donating to Park Layne Elementary
- Extra Clothes for Kids Who Have Accidents at School. Sweatpants are best but any long pants - boys and girls - Sizes 4 - 10
- New Underwear and Socks in a variety of sizes for students who have accidents.
- Items for Dressing Kids for the 100th Day of School - We keep extra costumes for our Fall Parade so thought we could do the same for the 100th Day for kids who forget. If you have any of the following you could donate, that would be great; old eye glasses we can pop the lenses out of, costume jewelry like pearls, sweaters for girls, suspenders or ties for boys, etc.
Boxtops for Education Program
Replacing the print Boxtops is a new app that you can download from the App Store or download on Google play. Then sign up for Park Layne Elementary. It's very easy to use. Once you have the app, scan your receipt within 14 days and your Boxtop purchases will automatically be credited to our school!
The money raised through Boxtops is used to support things like assemblies, PBIS Rewards, Welcome to Kindergarten Night and more. Please continue to help by saving those printed Boxtops and sending them in the first Friday of each month, and downloading the app and scanning your grocery receipts. Ask friends, relatives and neighbors to help as well.
