Student Belongings – Retrieval Plan and Schedule- May 26-May 29
Today began our student belonging retrieval. It was a great first day! Please see below for your assigned day and time. Please also review the process below before coming to Kutz. One slight change- We were not able to add the yearbooks, 6th grade signs, or Reading Olympics t-shirts to the bags. However, after you retrieve your child(ren)'s bag with their belongings, there will be 3 additional tables/carts with these items. Please pull up to these tables for these additional items. You will remain in your car to retrieve these items too. Thank you for your flexibility.
Procedure for Drive-Thru Process
- Place a name placard in your front passenger windshield. Have the following items on the placard- child’s last name, child first initial, grade level, child’s teacher. Please be sure this is in large, bold print for easy reading.
- Enter the Kutz Bus Loop Entrance and you will form the line for student retrieval of items
- As you enter, pull up to the “Stop Sign” and you will be greeted by one of our helpers, who will confirm your child’s name, grade level, and teacher.
- The greeter will then direct you to Cone #1, Cone #2, or Cone #3 where your child(ren)’s belongings will be brought to you.
- Remain in your car at all times.
- Please have your passenger side window down or trunk popped for the items to be placed in your car.
- Please then pull up to pick up your already ordered yearbook, 6th grade sign, and/or Reading Olympics t-shirt.
- Those who need medication retrieval (11 AM-3 PM), please notify the greeting staff member when sharing student information. The medication will be retrieved for you by one of our nurses. You will pull up to the sign labeled medication pick up to retrieve the medication.
- Once you have your child(ren)’s belongings, proceed to the exit of the bus loop.
Please note that this scheduled time is meant for retrieval of items from the school only. We are not asking students to bring back any items that you may have at home at this time, such as library books, classroom textbooks/supplies, borrowed district iPads or laptops, etc. We will arrange for those items to be returned at a later time, as we do not want to bring any items back into the school without proper sanitizing of those items.

Student Information- Parent Input Form
In June we will begin the process of assigning students to an appropriate class for next year. In putting together our roster of classes, we will take into consideration many factors including: girl/boy ratio, academic ability, behavioral characteristics, talents, personalities, needs and learning styles. Our goal is to ensure that each child is in a class that has an appropriate balance of students with the proper teacher. We will assess each child using the data collected from the present classroom teacher(s) and the input of the student support counselor, reading specialists and principal.
Class placement is made after reviewing considerable data. If you feel that we would benefit from additional information, please complete the Student Information Input Form by clicking here. You SHOULD NOT name a specific teacher. District staffing is not complete until June and teaching assignments may change. This form is designed to speak to your child’s area of strength and need, and not to a specific teacher preference. Please note: Requests for specific teachers will not be considered.
Much time and attention go into creating well-balanced class groupings that consider social, academic and emotional needs of our students, as well as any input which is shared by parents on the Student Information Input Form. We ask all parents to respect the amount of hard work and thought that the principal, school counselor, reading specialist, classroom teachers and special education teachers put into this process and not request changes to your child’s placement.
Moving even one child from a class could upset the balance of a classroom and have an impact that extends far beyond your child. Your son may not have gotten is “first” choice of teacher. Your daughter may not be with all her friends from last year. You may be disappointed because you’ve heard through the grapevine that Mr. “A” isn’t as “warm and fuzzy” as Mrs. “B”. All our teachers are caring, capable, and highly-qualified educators. Our job as adults is to support students and to help them develop confidence and a positive outlook as they begin the new school year, encouraging them to look forward to the challenges and excitement that accompany making new friends and getting to know a new teacher. Thank you for your cooperation in not requesting changes and for your understanding, trust and support.
We want what is best for your child and that involves them having a wide variety of educational experiences. For your convenience the Student Information Input Form is linked here again. You are not required to fill out this form. This form must be completed by Friday, May 29, 2020. Forms not submitted by the return date may not be able to be considered.
Please let me know if you have any questions by emailing me at cadelberger@cbsd.org. Thank you!

A Special Announcement from the Adelbergers
Field Day
Dear CBSD Families,
Field Day is one of our favorite days of the year. It is a day of celebration, fun, and fitness. In honor of our students and families, we have created a unique opportunity to stay connected as a school community through the participation of a Virtual Field Day event. We are excited to share a variety of events to support the Central Bucks School District’s Elementary Field Day. We are grateful to have a variety of resources from OPEN, a National Physical Education organization dedicated to support Physical Education programs around the globe to support this day. All Field Day events are designed to be completed indoors or outdoors, using common household items. You do not need to purchase any specialized equipment or supplies. Simply enjoy the Field Day events with the supplies you have at home. While Field Day in the past has been a competitive day in nature, this school year, we will not be keeping score. Our goal, this school year is to provide family fun events to celebrate the enjoyment of physical activity and the end of the school year.
On Friday, June 5, students from all 15 elementary schools will have the opportunity to participate in the events of their choosing. If this date does not work for you and your family, please enjoy this event at your own convenience as the events will be released in your child’s Physical Education Seesaw on Monday, June 1.We encourage students and family members to wear their school colors/school spirit wear for the events. All are welcome to share field day photos and videos from the event through their Physical Education Seesaw, district social media sites, or a school specific avenue provided to you if you so choose. Please be sure to tag #CBSDHPE.
Again, Field Day events will be posted in your child’s Physical Education Seesaw account on June 1. We hope you can use this opportunity as a fun and meaningful way to be physically active together. We cannot thank you enough for guiding your child(ren) through these challenging times, and we look forward to a time when we can return together as a school community.
Best of luck and have fun,
Elementary Principals

With COVID-19 giving many of us downtime at home with our families, we invite the Central Bucks community to take this opportunity to watch SCREENAGERS NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience. This special edition includes a brief introduction by the filmmaker Dr. Delaney Ruston, plus a pre-recorded Q&A with her after the film, where she responds to some of the most frequently asked questions about the topics covered in the film. Filmmaker and physician Dr. Delaney Ruston takes the conversation around screens and teens to the next level with Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience—a film that examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help them build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age.
In Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER, we follow Delaney as she finds herself at a loss on how to help her own teens as they struggle with their emotional wellbeing. She sets out to understand these challenges in our current screen-filled society, and how we, as parents and educators, can empower teens to overcome mental health challenges and build emotional agility, communication savvy, and stress resilience.
We witness Delaney as she finds her way from ineffective parenting to much-improved strategies. We follow other personal stories of families from an array of backgrounds with a spectrum of emotional challenges. We also observe approaches in schools that provide strategies relevant beyond the classroom setting. Interwoven into the stories are surprising insights from brain researchers, psychologists, and thought leaders that reveal evidence-based ways to support mental wellness among our youth. The impact of social media and other screen time is incorporated in all the topics raised in Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER, how it may be impacting our teens’ mental health, and what we can do to help foster youth in the face of struggles.

Support CB Families in Need!
Help us share food with families and children throughout the Central Bucks School District during this crisis! Click HERE to support our Go Fund Me.
The CBSD Farmers Market at Barclay was started a year ago by a small group of principals and teachers, collectively known as The Friends of John Barclay, with a mission to address food insecurity for children in the Central Bucks School District. Through the generosity of local organizations, including Bucks County Opportunities Council (BCOC), Philabundance, and Rolling Harvest, we distributed thousands of pounds of fresh produce to families and children at our monthly markets.
A week after the start of the COVID-19 crisis, we were able to quickly expand our operation, and we now distribute food every week on Wednesdays at 4:00 at Barclay Elementary School. Last week, we shared milk, eggs, fresh produce, and dry goods with over 200 families throughout the district. Unfortunately, this number has been increasing each week. We believe that in a community as well resourced as ours, no child should ever be hungry. We also believe that at some point in time, we all might need a little extra support, and we should feel confident in the compassion and empathy of our friends and neighbors.
Eighty percent of the funds we raise will go directly to CBSD families and children in the form of weekly food support. While we receive many donations, we have built relationships with wholesalers who are able to offer excellent prices on bulk purchases of perishable and non-perishable groceries that we don't receive from outside organizations. We have no overhead or administrative costs, as our efforts are completely volunteer supported. The other twenty percent of the money we raise will be donated to the three organizations above--BCOC, Philabundance, and Rolling Harvest. To give you a sense of their generosity, we received nearly 5,000 pounds of food donations from them just last week. Without their kindness and support, none of our efforts would be possible.
The Friends of John Barclay, and our small group of employee volunteers, are very grateful for even the smallest donations. Please consider supporting families and children throughout the district who need a little help during this difficult time. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
