Dear Families,
It is hard to believe that we are quickly approaching the end of the first quarter of the school year! Students have settled nicely into their new classroom routines and have been actively engaged in learning. We continue to work hard to provide as much normalcy and interaction between students as possible, given the few remaining Covid safety protocols and restrictions. This year children are able to share materials and to work together with peers to problem solve and/or complete school projects. Students are also able to participate in the full range of educational programs including wellness, art, music and band. Recess times are back to normal and students are not required to wear masks or socially distance while playing outside. As you are aware, the Massachusetts Department of Education did extend the school mask mandate through January 15th, 2022. As a result, our students and staff will continue to wear masks while indoors and also continue to maintain social distancing during lunch or snack times when unmasked. We are pleased to report that these safety measures have been successful for our district in minimizing the number of students who have been required to quarantine due to Covid 19 exposure and have allowed us to keep as many children as possible learning in school with their teachers and peers.
Next month we look forward to welcoming all of our parents into our schools for parent/teacher conferences. Conferences will be offered in person, with a virtual conference option available for families who prefer to access this alternative. Teachers are looking forward to meeting you and having the opportunity to discuss your child’s academic, social and emotional growth. They also look forward to sharing with you some of your child’s work and providing you with the opportunity to see the classroom learning environment. Your child’s teacher will be reaching out to you directly to schedule conferences. Please remember that conferences are scheduled for fifteen minutes, as teachers have many parents to see during the afternoon and evening. It is important to be on time, so that we do not keep other families waiting. Of course, if you have a concern or a question you can always reach out to the teacher to set up a time for a follow up conversation.
We look forward to seeing everyone next month! Enjoy the beautiful weather this week and remember to set your clocks back for daylight savings time before you go to bed on Saturday night!
Sincerely,
Ingrid Allardi
Report Cards
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This notice is intended for parents or guardians who have students that are new to our district this year.
As part of our continued effort to reduce paper and limit our environmental footprint, last year the district implemented a new 'Parent Portal' called iParent, where parents are able to access information about their child's school attendance, as well as view their report cards. We will not be sending home hard copies of report cards, we will make the report cards available for you to review through iParent.
If you DO NOT have access to a computer or internet, hard copies will be made available upon request, by calling the H. Olive Day School office at 508-541-5475 or the Freeman-Kennedy School office at 508-528-1266.
If you have more than one child in the district you will get multiple emails/connect-eds with your student/s ID.
• Please make sure you only create ONE iParent account and register ALL your children who are currently attending Norfolk Public Schools at the same time.
• Please be on the lookout for a Connect-Ed with the steps to register for an iParent account over the next week.
If you already have an account, but forget how to access it, refer to the link here for a refresher: iParent Refresher
