Christmas Tech Tips - 2016

Fun Christmas Activities for your SmartBoard

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, I pray you will find time to relax and worship amid all the distractions of the season. The LORD of the universe loves us so!

If you are looking for something to entertain your students or help them have fun learning, then this is for you. I've added a few new things this year, so be sure to look through the whole newsletter. Enjoy this special Christmas edition of Tech Tips. Merry CHRISTmas!

Google Santa Tracker

Google Santa Tracker (a favorite from last year) will take your students on a tour of Santa's Village to learn about holiday traditions from all over the world. You'll also have access to complete standards-based lesson plans, and enjoy fun holiday games. This site is probably most suitable for grades K-3, but hey, who doesn't want to know when Santa's coming?

Add With Santa

Help Santa get off the ground and deliver presents. The Add with Santa game is a fun way to practice addition on several levels and help St. Nick complete his rounds. Ho, ho, ho!

Elf Flinger

Physics takes on a new meaning as players use angle and speed to help the elves grab a present and land in Santa's sack. Flinging elves has never been so fun!

Decorate a Tree

Lots of fun items to decorate your virtual Christmas tree. There's even a "Charlie Brown" one to love.

Sugar, Sugar: The Christmas Special

Another physics game with Christmas scenes and sugar. The goal is to draw on the screen to produce the specified actions and fill up the sugar cups. It can be harder than it looks, but older students will appreciate the challenge. It's kind of addictive, just like sugar. Sweet!

Christmas Word Search

ABCya.com always has great interactive games and this one would be fun for any age. Choose the size of puzzle you would like and search for Christmas words.

Merry Christmas Math Fact Fun

Another ABCya.com game that can be customized for addition, subtractions, multiplication, or division fact practice. Solve math problems to earn lights and decorate for Christmas. Happy decorating!

Holiday Fun Multiplication

First, quiz students with a set of multiplication problems and watch as a gingerbread house is built with each correct answer. If a majority of the answers are correct, you can build your very own gingerbread house!

Scholastic's "What is Christmas?"

Scholastic's quality information is apparent in this interactive site that explains some of the symbols and traditions of Christmas. Choose a symbol and a pop-up will appear with pertinent information. Feliz Navidad!

Interactive Nativity Story

This site has an accurate rendition of the Nativity story and lots of corresponding activities to go along with it. Learners from EC-4 would enjoy the story and the Welsh accent of the child reading the story. Interesting and fun!

Polar Express Activity Calendar

A variety of fun Polar Express-themed activities for every day in December up to the 25th. There are writing prompts, some interactive games, and other activities to engage students with this holiday classic.

Christmas Infographic

The History Channel has a wonderful infographic showing some really interesting facts and statistics about how Americans observe Christmas.
