Mar Vista Parent Newsletter
Week of October 26, 2020
Dear Families,
Hello Mar Vista Families,
Wow! It's the last week of October and time is flying by! We are so pleased with the results of the MAP which was designed to let us know the degree to which learning loss may have occurred during our time in Distance Learning. To our delight, we are pleased to see that the majority of students are showing growth and most are making between average and high growth based on the national norms! We look forward to using this data to further develop our planning and targeted instruction and to see students continue to make growth and show resilience under such challenging conditions. Again, thank you for being a partner in the process. We appreciate all you've done to support teaching and learning.
This next week, we look forward to celebrating Fall with a fun costume slideshow and a Halloween-themed read aloud by yours truly on Friday evening. I hope your children can join in the fun!
Please find updated information below and as always, feel free to reach out with questions.
Thank you!
Stephanie Monroe
Mr. J's Academic Coordinator Update
Hello, Families.
Please send photos of your in a costume for a slideshow to me, daniel_jacobsmeyer@pvusd.net, by Wednesday at 3 p.m. This is important: include “costume” and the name of your child’s teacher in the subject line. This is optional, not everyone needs to participate, but everyone is welcome if they want to.
We will continue our Great Kindness Challenge this week we are encouraging students to send a thank you letter to a teacher, coach, administrator, or family member that they wish to show their appreciation. For younger students, parents can help by writing what the child dictates to them along with a drawing, painting, etc. This is a great opportunity to work on writing letters as well as reinforcing the importance of showing appreciation.
Remember, students can also work to complete any of these acts of kindness each day: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1k0kD5TX1OS8sApoYotLo8f8l9Vs-QhQr/view?usp=sharing
Thank you for your support in spreading kindness throughout our community!
