Feast of the Ascension of our Lord

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension of Jesus. The Feast of the Ascension is the fortieth day after Easter Sunday, which commemorates the Ascension of Christ into Heaven, according to Mark 16:19, Luke 24:51, and Acts 1:2. Today, we remember Jesus’ words to His disciples, “ I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.”

The ascended Jesus is our source of strength and hope. When the doubt creeps in and the burdens become heavy, may we remember that Jesus is fully present in our lives. By His ascension to Heaven, Jesus made it possible for the Holy Spirit to enter at all times and all places.

Grade 3 students moving to Grade 4

Students entering grade 4 in the fall will need to bring a device to school as another tool for learning. EICS recommends Chromebooks as the ideal device due to price, battery life, fast startup, and usability.

Fish in Schools Program Release Date

Since January SJXXIII has been participating in the Fish in Schools program - a unique and hands-on opportunity to raise rainbow trout from egg to fry right in our own Library Learning Commons.

Aligned with learning objectives identified in the Alberta Education curriculum, Fish in Schools is an education tool supporting the delivery of science and nature topics such as; a trout’s life cycle, fish adaptations, healthy aquatic habitats, and water quality.

It is now time to release our rainbow trout fry to continue their life-cycle journey. Families are welcome to join us at the West Rivers Edge Pavilion on Saturday, May 27th at 12:30 pm when we will release our fry into their natural habitat.

We would like to thank Ms. Bourassa's Grade 3 class and Emma in Grade 4 for their leadership and work on this project!

Should you have any questions about this event you are welcome to contact Mrs. Buban at may-leeb@eics.ab.ca.
