This year we are taking more of a family focused approach to homework. We believe that spending quality family time is vital in the success of your student. We will provide family friendly, engaging homework activities and assignments. We would love if you would send us pictures of these activities and share them with us.
This weeks Family focus: We are learning about different holiday celebrations, our focus this week is on Kwanzaa. Discuss the similarities and differences that you have with Kwanzaa and your holiday traditions.
Academics
ELAR: This week we are focusing on creating mental images as we read to have a deeper understanding, discussing the authors purpose for writing the text, identifying key ideas and identifying pronouns.
Math: Students will learn to distinguish between A.M and P.M as well as read and write time to the nearest one increment using analog and digital clocks.
Science: Students will distinguish between natural and manmade resources.
Social Studies: We will compare ethnic and cultural celebrations.
2nd Grade Adventures
In order to promote high attendance, we will be spelling out the word ATTENDANCE. Each day that our class has 100% attendance a letter will be added. When the whole word is spelled out, we will celebrate. We will also have a school wide prize for the grade level with the highest attendance. Please help us reach our goal in 2nd grade!
