Belmont Elementary: A PAWSitive Place to Learn!
Welcome to BeLmOnT eLeMeNtArY!
We've tried to pack all of the information you'll need to get started into this ONE document.
ENROLLMENT WILL BE PROCESSED THROUGH MAY 28th, and DURING OPEN ENROLLMENT JULY 29th & 30th. (Or whenever a new family arrives from August 2nd through the remaining of the 21-22 school year!)
Great! You are well on your way to getting your child enrolled at Belmont!
Documents you will complete through your Skyward Family Access account:
- Parental Insurance Waiver
- Anti-Bullying Policy Awareness
- Acceptable Use Policy for District Technology
- Data Disclosure
- FERPA Preferences
- Other Health Updates, including Over the Counter options for your child.
What About HEALTH Information?
Mr. Beau Martin, RN, takes care of all of us here at Belmont. He is skilled in many areas of nursing and has the ability to act as a knowledgeable liaison with outside medical teams when needed. Above all that, he truly cares about helping students to feel their best, and about helping families identify and mitigate medical concerns not only for today, but for long-term health. Teaching students how to be their best advocates, while also building confidence in listening to and taking care of their own incredible brains and bodies is a common goal.
Some of the Health Information Forms that you will complete are included in the Skyward (the second, online after Amy gives you the green light) portion of your child's enrollment.
IMPORTANT:
- Before your child may begin school in Kansas, we must have your child's up-to-date immunization record IN OUR HANDS. The immunization record (do they still give out those pink tri-fold cards?) should be completed by your doctor's office and signed by your physician. (Form is attached below- other signed form provided by doctor is acceptable, such as a computer printout of immunizations and applicable dates.)
- A physical or wellness check is also required for students entering a Kansas school for the first time. The physical should be recent to be most helpful, so within the last year, please. (Form is attached below- other signed form provided by doctor is acceptable.)
What else?
- Proof of Residency: We'll need a current utility bill, lease, or home contract. We don't care about the details, but we do need to see your name and address to make sure that we are enrolling your child in the correct school of attendance.
- Birth Certificate: Although the certificate they give you at the hospital with the sweet little footprints is adorable, we actually need a copy of the original, certified birth certificate issued by the state in which your child was born. These can take several weeks to obtain from the state so NOW is a good time to request it if you don't already have one. You'll need this for many reasons as your child ages.
- Fees: Kindergarten-5th grade fees are $65 per year plus a $15 technology fee.
All aboard!!!

Specials!
Enrollment: We're OPEN July 29th & 30th!
This is a great time to turn in any paperwork (like proof of residency and health forms), pay fees (exact cash and checks accepted in the office, but electronic options are available online) and get support to complete any remaining online forms!
If your enrollment process is complete, there's no need to stop in unless you just want to say hello! All school supplies pre-ordered through the PTO will be delivered to classrooms on the 12th. We'll see you at our Family Welcome Night on August 10th between 6:00 and 7:30pm.
Belmont Elementary Family Welcome Night is August 10th
It would be SUPER helpful for you to aim for the time indicated below according to your family's last name:
6:00-6:30 pm A-J
6:30-7:00 pm K-R
7:00-7:30 pm S-Z
Our Belmont Elementary PTO (Did you know that YOU are a member as soon as you enroll your child at Belmont?) and multiple community groups, clubs and classes will also be represented at our Welcome Night to answer your questions and help you and your child get connected.
The parking lot gets busy, so feel free to enjoy a family walk to school if you live nearby. Much appreciated!
We LOVE Logistics! (But then, doesn't everybody!)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO TO KEEP OUR PARKING LOT SAFE FOR OUR BULLDOGS! Here is what YOU can do to help make drop-off and pick-up at Belmont a breeze! Most importantly- BE aware and SLOW DOWN! Please, put your cell phones down and pay close attention to all movement on school grounds.
All K-5 students will utilize the front loop for drop-off and K-1 students (and car pools with K-1 students) should be picked up in the front loop. All 2nd-5th students should be picked up in the back loop. Adjustments may be made following the first week of school if loops are out of whack. Families will be called individually if changes are recommended. (Be patient-everything seems out of whack the first week, but it always smooths out quickly as everyone gets into the groove!)
- BREAKFAST is served from 8:25-8:45. The breakfast program is open for elementary students only, and only those students eating breakfast at school should be in the building at 8:25.
- All students should be dropped off between 8:30 and 8:40. Students will find it difficult to make it to their lockers and be in their desks ready to learn by 8:45 if they arrive later than 8:40 to school. Students who are tardy to class not only disrupt the classroom routine, but more importantly, begin their day already behind and frazzled.
- BUS STOP INFORMATION is located in Skyward in your Family Access Account. Click here for Bus Route Information in Family Access.
- HELMETS are expected for bike and scooter riders and permission from parents should be on file in the office. Bikes and scooters should be walked on the school grounds.
- The SPEED LIMIT on Belmont Drive is 25, but 20 is PLENTY. Please watch out for our kids on the streets and sidewalks. When students enter a crosswalk, it is the law to stop for them. Drive slowly and watch closely.
- PLEASE help us to be good neighbors by NOT blocking or turning around in driveways of residents near the school. That's just not cool.
- TRANSPORTATION CHANGES should be communicated to the office either by calling 913-667-1810 or by emailing jdearwester@usd232.org, smccann@usd232.org and your child's teacher. All changes should be made at least 45 minutes prior to dismissal.
- All students should be picked up promptly at the end of their school day.
End of Day Transportation: Kindergarten through 5th Grade
Our PTO ROCKS!
The Belmont PTO gets things rocking right off the bat each year and we are so very grateful for the support! There are LOTS of opportunities to help with ideas and planning and to volunteer through our PTO throughout the year. There will be plenty of places to sign up and people to talk with about events and such during our Welcome Night on the 10th! Our first PTO Meeting of the year is scheduled for August 23rd at 6:30pm. Plan to zoom in from wherever you are at that time! We'll be doing important business to get the year started, so please join us! More information is available on both the Belmont PTO Website (www.belmontpto.com) and the Belmont Elementary School PTO Facebook page.
Bulldog Dash, our BIGGEST FUNdraiser, will take place in early September during a school day. Watch for exciting news and announcements and follow the PTO on Facebook and through their website. You'll find the link right below this article so just keep on scrolling!
