A Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,
We have completed the last week of instruction for the first semester, and I hope that all of our students will be prepared to take their exams. Giving great effort and finishing strong not only speaks to academic success but also says a lot about an individual's character. The Spain Park expectation is that every student is successful and meets the rigorous challenges that are presented to our students.
Please note the bus schedule for next week’s exams.

Help our Spain Park Families this Holiday Season!
Spain Park is collecting donations of gift cards of any amount to help families in need this holiday season. Gift cards can be for grocery stores, department stores, or restaurants (ie: Wal-Mart, Publix, Target, Kohl's, Belk, Rue 21, Zaxby's, Chick-fil-A, etc.). Monetary donations will also be accepted and will go towards purchasing specific items for the families. If you are interested in helping with the purchase of specific items, please email Casey Cain at ccain@hoover.k12.al.us. Gift cards or monetary donations can be delivered to Mrs. Cain in the Guidance Office. Thank you for helping make this season special for those in our Spain Park Family!

Senior Parent Meetings
The following parent nights dealing with the subject of college planning are scheduled for the parents of juniors and seniors. Both nights will be held in the SPHS Theater with a 6:00 PM start time. Issues related to steps students should be taking at this particular point in time will be covered. The sessions are separate and grade level-specific. Please begin making plans to attend these important information sessions:

Christmas Decoration Sale
Our Instructional Support students will be in the lobby before school and during AO until the 19th selling Homemade Christmas Ornaments. Please consider supporting our students- the funds raised are used to purchase supplies/assistive technology and to cover field trip expenses throughout the year.
We made the following this year: Christmas trees (variety of colors including some AL and Auburn), footballs (SP, AL, and Auburn), states (state of Alabama in a variety of colors including AL, Auburn, SP logo), crosses, elf boots, sleighs, candy canes, trucks, snowflakes, snowmen, gifts, and bells.

After-School Credit Recovery - Winter 2020
Registration deadline: By Thursday, January 23, 2020
Registration forms are available in the SPHS guidance office, online and at the front desk in the lobby.
Have grade-level counselor sign form by January 23rd.
Take signed form and tuition to bookkeeper by January 23rd .
Tuition can be paid with cash or check at the bookkeeping office.
Credit Recovery Dates and Times:
Credit Recovery meets Monday – Thursday, 3:50pm - 5:50 pm on the following dates:
January 27 - 30
February 3 - 6
February 10 - 13
February 17 - 20
February 24 - 27
March 2 - 5
March 9 - 12
March 16 - 19
ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. Parents or guardians will be contacted about every tardy and absence.
Tuition: $200.00 per semester course attempted. Students may only sign up for one course at a time. However, if a student finishes a course and wishes to start another, administrator approval will be required to start the second course. Tuition and application are due at registration.
No refunds are available after January 27, 2020.

Spotlight on SPHS Athletics
Track Accomplishments
Our indoor track and field team started off with a great first meet of the year with several athletes setting the standard for the season.
Our girls' team established themselves early on with some great early season performances earning them some top rankings in the state.
Mackenzie Culpepper is Ranked #1 in 7a in the 800m run with a time of 2:27
and 3rd in the 1600m run with a 5:26
Anna Collins is ranked #2 in Pole Vault with a vault of 10 feet
Swimming and Diving State Meet Results
The Spain Park Swim & Dive Team competed at the AHSAA Swimming and Diving State Meet Championships this past weekend at Auburn University. We had 7 boys and 7 girls qualify for the state meet. The girls' team placed 3rd overall out of 32 teams and the boys' team placed 8th overall out of 29 teams in the 6A/7A division. We had 5 team records set, three 2nd place finishes, five 3rd place finishes and numerous best times set. Here are some of the highlights from the meet and congratulations to all the swimmers who attended the meet.
