Begin with the End in Mind
Our focus for Lead Time for the rest of the month is Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind (Have a Plan). Classes are digging deeper into the key concepts of Habit 2.
These are:
Define outcomes before you act.
Create and live by a Personal Mission Statement.
Classrooms will be working to refine their Classroom Mission Statement. In this edition of Habits to Home, you will find several resources to learn more about mission statements.
If your family creates a mission statement, we would love a copy if you are willing to share. We would like to post family mission statements on one of our bulletin board displays in the front foyer. Feel free to include a family pictures as well!
You can send in a copy with your child to turn into their teacher,
or email them to Mrs.Schulte: jschulte@cr.k12.ia.us
3 Steps to a Family Mission Statement:
Step 1.
Ask yourself these seven questions:
How do we want our family to be known?
How do we want to treat each other?
What is most important to us as a family?
What are some of our talents, gifts, and abilities?
What makes us the happiest?
What makes us unhappy?
What kind of home do we want to invite friends to?
Step 2.
Write your Family Mission Statement.
Consider all four areas:
• Body (health and physical welfare)
• Brain (learning)
• Heart (relationships)
• Soul (inspiration)
Step 3.
Stay on course.
As parents, you are the role models. Keep smiling and getting back on track.
The promise: By writing a Family Mission Statement, the message to your
children is that your family is important—you know what you stand for and how
you are going to work together to accomplish it.
