Letter from the Principal
It has been a busy week at Lions Park with continued learning opportunities provided in person and via Zoom, picture day, the ground breaking for our new addition, and preparations for April 12th and beyond. We are glad our students and most of our staff will have this next week off to enjoy more time to rest or do things they enjoy.
We are eagerly planning for this next phase of our school year! We are pleased that the numbers are such that we can provide dedicated remote teachers. We will have one remote section at each grade level. While we will have dedicated remote teachers, having the students back for full days will mean that some programs that were previously fully remote may be livestreamed to accommodate both in person and remote students. These programs include Accelerated/Enrichment, EB (emergent bilingual), LSS (literacy support services), MSS (math support services), and some special education classes and related services. We are still working on details for some parts of the day, including lunch and recess, but more details will be shared soon.
On April 5th, all families will receive teacher assignments. We are making every effort to minimize transitions for students and teachers. Whenever possible, we will keep students with their current teacher or return them to a previous teacher. This may be impossible for some remote students if neither of those teachers will be teaching the dedicated remote class or if it will make the in person classes unbalanced. In a typical year, we do our best to balance sections, but it is even more important during this year to maximize spacing for all students.
In order for our teachers and staff to do the activities needed to prepare classrooms, technology and curriculum for the return to full in person learning on April 12th, the district has added planning days on April 8th and April 9th. These will be non-student attendance days. We will also still have our Institute Day on April 6th. Please see below for all other calendar information.
We are looking forward to Disability Awareness Week March 29th-April 1st. Students will participate in various activities each day of the week and the week will end with a recognition of World Autism Awareness Day, which is April 2nd. We are thankful to former Lions Park teacher and current Fairview teacher, Katianne Olson, for organizing this week of learning and awareness for our students.
We wish your children a safe, healthy and fun spring break. We look forward to seeing them on Zoom or in person on March 29th!
Warmly,
Katie Kelly

Technology Issues
Although technology can work well, there are times when it just does not work correctly. Teachers will not be available to respond to emails during instructional times. Instead, please submit a Remote Learning Technology Support form by clicking here. Once submitted, someone from our District Technology Team will contact you to provide assistance.
If you experience a technical issue, please follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem:
Restart the Chromebook (make sure it turns all the way off before turning back on).
Quit any unused applications.
Sign out of an application if it's not working, and sign back in.
Move closer to your internet router if you are experiencing connectivity issues.
Turn off any accessibility features i.e., contrast mode, special cursor that may be set on the Chromebook. These can cause applications to run slow.
