FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
Thank you for joining us at our Virtual Town Hall Meetings over the past two weeks as we discussed key elements of our Reopening Plan (the plan is included in the attachments below under Forms and Important Documents). Your questions and insights continue to help guide our preparations for the start of the school year. A reminder that, as the guidance from the Department of Health and Department of Education continues to evolve, so too will our plan evolve and change. If and when revisions become necessary, you will be notified of these revisions via email and the revised plan will be posted on the school website.
2019-2020 Annual Appeal Raises $41,922.00
We want to thank and recognize all of our community members who supported our school through the Annual Appeal over this past year, helping to raise over $40,000! These funds will be utilized to pave the east side parking lot, which is phase one in the installation of our multi-sport outdoor court. In addition, an anonymous parent of an alumni gave a very generous donation and requested that a significant portion of this donation be used to increase the supply budget for every teacher, so that each of them could purchase “something special” for their classroom. Our teachers were very grateful for this “bonus” gift for their students! More information, including a list of donors and a thank you letter from Fr. Woolley, can be found attached below.
Updates from Around the School:
- Textbook orders have begun arriving at the school. These orders include our brand new K-2 reading program and a new vocabulary program for our middle school students.
- Work continues on our middle school lockers, which are receiving a deep cleaning and fresh coat of paint for the start of the year.
- Work has begun on the east wing (elementary side) blacktop. The east side blacktop will be repaved next week, and we are also making some alterations to the landscaping along the east side of the building.
- The nurse's office move is underway. Nurse Patti is excited to move into her new office to the right of our main entrance which provides more space for student care, has increased ventilation, and will better serve the needs our community during this challenging time.
- Our facilities manager, Mr. Al Harel, and the summer maintenance team have been working hard preparing our classrooms, ensuring desks and furniture are properly arranged to keep students and staff safe, meet RIDE guidelines, and continue to provide an engaging learning environment. More information to come in the weeks ahead!
Before/After Care for 2020-2021 School Year
If you are planning to utilize our Before School or After School Care services during the 2020-2021 school year and you have not yet completed this brief survey, please do so at your earliest convenience. While this survey does not serve as registration for before or after school care, the data gathered will assist in planning for the appropriate staffing and facilities for these services.
Finally, Father Doyle graduate Matt St. Jean - Class of 2016 - would like to invite Father Doyle students to join the Let's Rock School of Music here in Coventry. There is a flyer below under Important Forms and Documents with more information.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
