SIXTH GRADE NEWS
SEQUOIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
DECEMBER UPDATE
Holiday greetings from Mrs. Elrod and Mr. Wagner. December is a busy time for many of us, so we wanted to make you aware of some upcoming dates:
The Winter Holiday Program is Wednesday, December 11th at 6pm in the Multi-Purpose Room at Sequoia. Sixth grade will be performing "Jingle Bell Rock."
We will be having a Christmas party during the week prior to Christmas Break. We'll send home more information as the time gets closer.
Winter sports practice has begun. The first games are scheduled for Friday, December 13.
We appreciated the chance to sit down and discuss the students' progress during Parent Teacher Conference week. We're confident that the students know what they need to do in order to earn the best grades possible. Due to the break, the next progress report will go home on Monday, February 3.
We are in the second week of Trimester 2. There are a total of 12 weeks in each trimester. The holidays are a busy time for many, but we encourage students to maintain good grades. We all know that it's easier to maintain a good grade than to bring up a bad grade.
The names of students who met their Trimester 1 AR goal have been announced. They will be able to take a trip to the movies on Friday, December 6. Information was sent home with those students on Monday, December 2. We congratulate the students who met their goal, but we would have liked to have seen more students meet the goal. Each student has an individual goal and it just takes commitment to reading and passing AR quizzes to reach that goal. We'd like to see 100% of the sixth graders meet their Trimester 2 goal.
We have less than three weeks until Winter Break begins. Friday, December 20 will be a minimum day. However, there is lots of learning to do in these three weeks so...
DREAM BIG, WORK HARD, AND BELIEVE!
