Tomball I.S.D Math Grades K-2
Welcome Fall! Thank you, Teachers!
A special thank you to all of you this October afternoon! Thank you for reviewing assessments, letting me plan with your team, and all of the extras you do. If I could give extra credit, I am sure I would run out of ink. Our team would not be complete with out you!
Happy Fall!
Enjoy the excitement of this season!

Math Workshop - Play and take! (K - 2)
We won't have time to make, but please come in and play! Mini lesson and station ideas for the next 9 weeks. Please sign up in eduphoria.
Here is a pic of our summer workshop.
Campus Visits:
Thank you for inviting me to plan with you and your teams. I am available to help you plan or even work with your students with you. Please let me know how I can best serve you. I love seeing the great things your students are doing.
Pacing Guides:
There are pacing guides in eduphoria. They are guides. In Tomball we really rely on teacher interaction with their students to determine what needs need to be addressed. While there is a bit of flexibility, if you are more than a few days off, you may want to get with me or your building math specialist to make a plan to get back on target. Please send me feed back or suggestions for next year.
Unit Assessments:
We are currently taking your feedback for unit assessments. There is a life preserver icon in help desk that allows you or your team to leave feedback for curriculum feedback. All of your feedback is welcome.
- If you see DRAFT on the first page, please do not print the test. DRAFT means that we are working on the assessment and it has not yet been approved.
- Also, in a perfect world we would already have perfect assessments. I appreciate all of your efforts to preview materials ahead in the event I can help support you and your team.
Math Tool Kits:
Students need to use math tools. For example: If you are teaching with base ten blocks, let them test with base ten blocks. It is okay for students to use math tools during math class. Tools should be made available to your students after you have taught students how to use them to solve problems. Students may not need to have specific tools all year long. Be flexible with storage and ease of access for your students to keep your math tools organized.
Design Team:
Your design team members will meet on:
- October 31st K - 1
- November 1st 2 - 3
Teams will work on math and science objectives.
Fall CBA
We are looking forward to giving the fall CBA in First ad Second Grades. Both of the CBA's will be only 20 questions and contain material taught in the 1st 9 weeks. Please plan on giving the CBA the during the week of October 31st. Data should be entered into AWARE by the following Tuesday.
Please let me know how I can serve you and your team. Requests taken daily!

Kinder
There have been some great suggestions for assessments that I will add in the curriculum for next year. Thank you to Willow Creek and Canyon Pointe. Please let me know if you have some great quality items that we can add.
First Grade
We have put an assessment into aware! The following assessments may include objectives that have been previously taught. Most assessments will spiral as the topics will build on each other. Please give feedback for the assessments.
Second Grade
As we get into regrouping be watchful for students who may not see the 'grouping of ten'. If students do not easily understand the tens place they may need more opportunities to build and group tens with other manipulatives (straws, beans) before using the base ten blocks.
