Principal Message
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa. Greetings to you all.
I am delighted to have been permanently appointed to the position of Principal at Witherlea and looking forward to working with you to ensure “we empower all children to reach their potential”! Thank you for the warmth and support you have shown me this term as I settle into the role and my new home. My family are excited about the move to Marlborough, with our house going on the market today! My eldest daughter will start at Witherlea next term while my wife and youngest will finish the school year in Nelson before moving over.
Last week I met with the newly elected student council and tasked them with collating some feedback from their classes about things our school should start, stop and keep doing. We will meet again on Friday to share this information and agree on some key priorities. Over the next few weeks the leadership team and board will be using the student, parent and staff voice to review our strategic direction and shape plans for 2023. These plans will be shared with the community mid term 4.
Tomorrow we have the Dance Festival Performance which we hope you are able to attend. The kids did an amazing job at the dress rehearsal and look forward to performing for you. The notice sent home yesterday has all the details, but most importantly, that we need children at the stadium between 6.00-6.10pm.
A reminder that the ballot for Out of Zone enrolments close on Friday. To apply, simply email board@witherlea.school.nz.
Hope to see you tomorrow night!
Ngā manaakitanga,
Symon Beattie
Principal
