What are they most famous for?
Self Actualization. Carl Rogers believed every person could achieve their goals, wishes, and desires in life, that's when self actualization took place.
How did there research affect the field of psychology?
It affected the field of psychology because he said therapists should discover a solution for themselves. He tried to change the world of psychotherapy by saying that psychoanalytic, experimental, and behavioral therapists were stopping their clients from reaching self-realization and self-growth due to their authoritive analysis.
How did there research change our understanding of how people act and think?
He changed our understanding by saying that in order to be a full functional person we have to self actualize and in order to do that we have to be open to experience, in touch with different experiences as they occur in life, we have to be able to trust our feelings, be creative, and be happy with our life.
How did the time period in which they lived affect there research or how there research was received?
He lived from 1902 until 1987. He was alive during the Great Depression so that made him think the way he did. During this time period he was able to research by reading research books that other Psychologists made. He put out his own research by writing his own books and teaching classes at Universities.
