Feb/Mar Students of the Month
McCord Middle School
Student of the Month Description
February Students of the Month
Elizabeth Latin
Elizabeth comes to math class each day ready to work. She is constantly putting in the effort to complete her assignments and find different paths to solving the problems. Though quiet, she is a great advocate for herself as she asks questions to further her understanding of the material. Keep up the good work!
Collin Ritter
Collin has done a nice job of making connections with our in-class discussions of history to other topics that we have studied. He continues to look for connections to our current world. Collin takes his time to ask thoughtful questions.
Nicholas Herbster
Mr. Nicholas Herbster is someone that has proven himself throughout the year to be a valuable member of our class. He is dedicated to his academics and leads by example with his work ethic. He can always be counted on to come to class prepared and to actively participate in class discussions, by both sharing ideas, carefully listening to others, and asking questions. His writing, work, and listening reflect the open-mindedness and thoughtfulness that personify Nick. We are very fortunate to have Nicholas as part of our learning community.
Brandon Fisher
Brandon is a sweet, kind and funny young man. He is warm and friendly with everyone around him. He desires to be helpful and he is genuine in his care and compassion for others. Brandon is an emotionally intelligent person and that can be seen in the way he interprets texts in the classroom, but more importantly in the way he interacts with others. Brandon is always a bright spot in my day! I will miss him next year, but I am so excited for him to get involved and enjoy his high school experience!
March Students of the Month
Morgan Hardy
Morgan has gone out of her way to help other students in our classroom. She is willing to share notes, answer questions, further explain concepts and even loan out her charging cord.
John Alley
John comes to class each day with an open mind and a positive attitude that demonstrates he is excited to learn. Not only does he work incredibly hard, but he challenges himself and his classmates to really delve into the topic or content. He is not afraid of a challenge, and meaningfully applies different perspectives to make connections. His authentic curiosity truly makes learning fun for both his classmates and his teachers. I am so proud of his commitment to learning this year. Way to go, John!
Amauri Williams
Amauri did not begin his school year at McCord, but joined our wolfpack near the end of September. It is not always easy being the new kid at a school, but with resilience, Amauri has adapted to McCord while staying true to himself at the same time. He is such a positive, respectful, focused and hard-working student who has a true passion for learning. Congratulations Amauri on being a resilient learner and a wonderful addition to McCord Middle School!
Amauri was also nominated by Mrs. Meyer.
Amauri is a great student. He is very considerate and thoughtful. He will often stay after class and help me push in chairs and put calculators away. He is also a hard working student with his homework always done. His work ethic is exemplary! I really appreciate Amauri!
Bella Curry
Bella is such a kind person. She thinks about others and wants to help. I was having a bad day and not only did she notice, she came later in the day with origami butterflies to cheer me up. Her kind gesture went along way to brighten my day, and still does!
Other Nominees for February and March
Ella Beymer and Lilly Schultheis- I am nominating Ella and Lilly for co - Students of the Month for their part in updating the McCord video. Ella and Lilly gave up their Assist time so that they could help put together a video to welcome incoming 6th grade students. Ella and Lilly discussed what was important for 6th grade students to know so that they felt a little less intimidated and a little less nervous about middle school. They put themselves in the 6th graders shoes and viewed middle school from their perspective. Ella and Lilly did an AMAZING job! They created a video that is warm, welcoming, fun and reassuring. Thank you!
Amy Ceron Leal- Amy is the definition of a kind, thoughtful student. Amy is kind to everyone-- no matter who they are. Amy makes sure that all students feel accepted. I have been incredibly lucky to have Amy in class the past two years. McCord is lucky to have a student like Amy.
Julisa Cooley- Jalisa has shown amazing perseverance and grit in band! She has made incredible progress and shows true determination to learn and succeed. I am so proud of every song she passes off for "band karate." Her black belt was well deserved! Keep up the great work!
Rayyan Eladlani- Rayyan is one of the hardest workers I have ever had. He constantly seeks help and guidance so that he can do well. He asks good questions, tries hard on the math problems and doesn't give up. Keep up the great work Rayyan!
Christain Gabriel- Christian is kind and helpful to both students and staff. He goes out of his way to help out by doing the little things that make somebody else's day easier. He looks for opportunities to help out his classmates, and is always ready to show patience and kindness toward a peer who may need some reassurance. Thank you for spreading kindness, Chris!
Creed Gaitors- Creed has been working really hard and consistently for band. I am really impressed by the steady progress he makes as he practices and completes his songs. I can tell he puts his mind to the work, and it pays off! Keep up the great work, Creed!
Tyler Moll- Tyler consistently seeks opportunities to help his peers and teachers building-wide. When asked to help, he does not hesitate.
Teagan Gemmel- Throughout the year, Ms. Teagan Gimmel has brought a sense of kindness and optimism to our class. She comes to class each day with a smile on her face and a willingness to lend a helping hand. She is someone that truly seems to love life and learning. Such attributes, when coupled with her strong work ethic, make her a wonderful person to have in our class and school. Thus, Ms. Teagan is very deserving of the title, student of the month.
Thayer Korn- Thayer is an extremely hard working in ELA. He never gives up, even when the content is difficult for him. He takes suggestions and will rework his writing until it is top quality. Thayer is truly a resilient learner.
