Teacher Survey Request
The Georgia Department of Education is studying the reasons why teachers leave public education as a profession. Classroom teachers across the state are invited to take a few moments to answer 7 questions to help the DOE better understand how to reverse this trend in Georgia. We greatly appreciate your time and feedback and know that working together we can make a difference in public education in Georgia.
ALL RESPONSES ARE ANONYMOUS.

REMINDER-International Night-FRI 1/8/15
Hello Bethesda Teachers and Staff,
As we know, International Night is quickly approaching, as it is the Friday after we all return to school. The list of the continents each grade level has was designated a few weeks ago and are also listed below for those that need a reminder:
K - North America (including Central America)
1 - South America (except Brazil)
2 - Europe
3 - Africa (split with 5th grade)
4 - Asia + Australia
5 - Africa (split with 3rd grade)
Special Ed - Brazil
When your class country is selected, please email me the country chosen or drop the country of choice off in the PTA box - whichever is more convenient for you. However, PTA needs to know what your selection is NO LATER THAN December 16.
We are sending letters home to encourage our students to participate in the parade of flags (that are to be no larger than 1.5ft by 2ft in size). This size will allow one child to be able to hold each flag him/herself. Also, please put your grade level, as well as country that flag represents, legibly on the back of each flag. We will also be reaching out to families regarding volunteering for the event by bringing artifacts and dishes and allowing their children to participate in the fashion show. The order of events will be:
*Touring the halls
*Parade, performances (if any) and fashion show (all in the gym)
*Food and artifact sampling (cafeteria
If you have any unanswered questions regarding the event, please don't hesitate to call me, Alisha, at 863-529-6322 or email me at alisha.bethesda.pta@gmail.com.
Thanks for your support,
Alisha Hinton

Winter Break Energy Savings
With the addition of over a million square feet of building space and no increase to the utility budget, the county is asking for our help to reduce utility costs over winter break. Please do the following prior to leaving for the break:
- switch off all lights
- shut down or switch computers off (not all computers are part of auto shut down)
- switch off monitors and printers
- ensure no equipment is left on standby and unplug all non-essential items
With cooler weather approaching, please remember that space heaters are prohibited in all areas of an educational facility by Fire Code. Thank you for taking the time to read this information and for supporting the District's energy initiatives.

Title : 2016-17 calendar (presented 11/19/15, rev. 12/3)
This calendar was updated 12/3 to reflect new teacher orientation dates.
GCPS' 2016-17 school calendar calls for the first day of school to be on Mon., Aug. 8. The calendar calls for a weeklong break at Thanksgiving (Nov. 21-25) and nearly two weeks for winter break (Dec. 22-Jan. 3). Students would return to school Thu., Jan. 5, following a staff development day on Jan. 4. Spring break is scheduled for April 3-7. The last day of school will be Wednesday, May 24.
GCPS may make up any inclement weather days by using scheduled make-up days and/or extending the school day or year.
Planning/Staff Development Days:
Throughout the school year, teachers are scheduled to work 10 planning/staff development days— Aug. 1-5, Oct. 10, Jan. 4, Feb. 20, and May 25 and 26.
If March 31 is not needed as a snow make-up day, it may be used as a teacher planning/staff development make-up day if teachers are unable to work on one of the scheduled planning/staff development days (#1– #8).

Hello everyone,
Please keep this survey going…Dojo again please!. Each one counts in a different way, so please complete it and participate. This survey is a state survey and it counts for CCRPI. As you know, we are trying to get the highest rating. Non-participation or low participation could adversely affect our CCRPI STAR Climate Rating. Last year we were a 5 star rating school. This one we can control!!!
Please Dojo this link out to your parents and let them know this is important for our State school ranking. If you are a Bethesda parent, please complete it asap.
Georgia Parent Survey: http://apps.gadoe.org/schoolclimate/parents.nsf/Survey.xsp
Thanks for your participation right now here is our participation number: Great start!
Remember our Focus
Analyzing the Standards (Stay true to the standard)
Building Capacity (Lifelong Learner)
Conquering the Workshop Model
Stay on Pacing (Super important)
(Master this first and then continue to build capacity to add on.)
We are listening!
Please continue to share your perception of our school. Is it really anonymous? YES IT IS! Since it is anonymous, we really can’t follow up when we don’t know specific situations (who, what, when, where, etc.). If you post something and want results, please be as specific as you can, otherwise the situation will continue. Remember, you can come and talk to any of us in confidence. We are here for you and genuinely want the best work environment.
Just like relationships, positive school climate takes work…hard work…we all want the same thing, so let’s work together to get there. Share your thoughts here Click Here to Open or face to face (always best way to communicate).
