Hello Bobcat Families!
First and foremost, a HUGE thank you to our PTA and fabulous families & community for your support during Teacher Appreciation Week! We appreciate our teachers every single day, but this week was extra special thanks to you. Our New Lebanon School teachers are some of the best in the entire country, and their appreciation is well deserved!
Protocol: Updated Guidelines for COVID-19 Quarantine
With the recently updated CDC and State of Connecticut guidance, it is appropriate to begin reducing quarantine length for students and staff who have been exposed and remain symptom free from 14 days to 10 days. It is important that all other mitigation strategies remain in place and that community transmission continues to remain low.
Any individual identified as a close contact to a person(s) who tests positive for COVID-19 will quarantine for 10 days following the last exposure date as long as a negative PCR is obtained and submitted after day 8 of exposure.
Individuals who choose not to test after day 8 will need to remain in quarantine for 14 days from their last date of exposure.
SAVE THE DATE: 5th Grade Graduation on the New Lebanon Field
5th Grade Graduation will be on Friday, June 18th at 9am with a rain date of Monday, June 21st at 9am. Each family will have a maximum of 4 guests. More information coming soon!
Placement for Next School Year
If you wish to provide information for our team to use in placing your child in a classroom next year, please send an email to Mrs. Michaelson at alexandra_michaelson@greenwich.k12.ct.us by May 14, 2021. While you cannot make requests for a particular teacher, please provide any information about what type of environment best suits your child's learning style. We do not keep a record of information from previous years, so if you had specific concerns from previous years please share them again. Questions? - Just reach out!
Reading Champions Webinar Offered by Greenwich United Way
The Greenwich United Way invites GPS Families to their free “Reading Champions Webinar” on
Tuesday May 25th at 10AM to help learn ways to overcome the Summer & COVID-19 Reading Slide! Parents and families will learn from Literacy Experts how to: make reading fun, create a Daily ritual, choose age-appropriate books, encourage oral reading skills, and more! RSVP to the Greenwich United Way via email by May 10th. Once you RSVP, the Zoom link will be shared directly with you.
Free COVID-19 Testing
If you or your child are symptomatic, we recommend getting tested as soon as possible. But if there are no symptoms, waiting 3-5 days from the possible exposure will give you the most accurate test results. Family Centers Health Care offers free COVID-19 testing at their Greenwich and Stamford locations. Details about their hours of operation and appointments can be found on their website. To find all test sites in your area, please visit United Way’s 2-1-1 website.
As a reminder, if someone in your home is symptomatic and awaiting results of a COVID-19 test, please keep your child at home until results are final. We understand that many families proactively test for work or other reasons, and this type of proactive testing for asymptomatic individuals does not require keeping your child at home.
Together in Safety and Learning,
Mrs. Michaelson & Mrs. Eisenstein
