UIL Virtual Meet #1
In 2021-2022, 137 middle schools competed in the Virtual Challenge Meets. The testing window for Virtual Meet #1 opens on September 6th and runs through September 30th. Our PJH students will compete against hundreds of students state wide in academic contests. We stress the importance of academic excellence and currently have three U.I.L. classes for students to develop their academic skills.
Supporting Teachers
Ponder ISD is being very intentional to ensure that we support our new and returning teachers. We have developed a LEO (Lions Empowering Others) Mentor program - pairing each new teacher with a specifically trained mentor teacher. Mentor teachers will go through the training September 15th, however, they have been meeting with their mentee teacher since returning to campus.
Supporting Students
At PJH we value building relationships with students. We believe, when we build those strong relationships then true learning will occur. We understand that some students do not have the positive role models in their lives that can help create a culture of positivity. To help shift that mindset, we have partnered with Mrs. Koeleber and the Peer Assistance and Leadership class at the high school. The mission of the PALs class is to provide a positive role model to PJH and/or PES students in need.
Big Kahuna Fundraiser Wraps Up
Our annual fundraiser is wrapping up and order forms are due into the office on September 13th. Our students have enjoyed reaching sales goals and receiving the Big Kahuna collectable figurines. Each year they look forward to the Party Bus lunch trip to help celebrate their hard work.
