A Message from Mrs. Austin, Principal

Homeroom Letters were delivered earlier this week. Please contact the school if you did not receive your child's information. The general grade level student schedule was also included.

Please know that students will engage in a combination of virtual face to face instruction, completion of assigned tasks offline and non-screen time activities. Teachers will be purposeful in scheduling breaks into the day for students. The full schedule will be phased in, with expectations for time spent in virtual learning increasing as students become comfortable with the digital tools. This will vary depending on the student’s age and developmental level.

Your child's teacher will communicate more specific information on your child's schedule during the Virtual Meet the Teacher Session on Friday, August 28th at 3 pm or 4 pm (pick one time). You will also learn more about the teacher, the virtual platform- Schoology, curriculum and classroom expectations.

We understand the vast needs of our youngest learners. We will be preparing home learning kits that will allow students to have hands on materials to enhance the virtual model. Our staff is already carefully organizing materials that will be most beneficial to your child! See below for more information on the material distribution schedule.

Your child will also be receiving a letter with important technology information during the material distribution event. It will include:

  • Parent Access Code for Schoology: Many parents/guardians have already connected to their child(ren)'s Schoology account using their Parent Access Code. If you have not created a parent account in Schoology, use this Parent Access Code to create your account and connect with your child(ren) accounts.
  • Your student's NEW FCPS credentials to access all FCPS technology.

Courses and course materials will be visible to students and parents/guardians in Schoology on Thursday, August 27th.

I am in the office Monday-Thursday from 8 am-4 pm. Please contact me directly by phone (240-236-1900) or e-mail ( with questions and/or needs.

For families who requested a chromebook or hotspot, please plan to first drive to the back of the school via the car rider loop. Mrs. Ridenour will be at the gym entrance door to distribute technology. Requests must be made via the student planning profile survey or by contacting the front office prior to your scheduled time.
