Covid - Level 3 Update 12 October

12 October 2021

Message from our Principal

12th October 2021

Kia ora koutou,

I hope you are all doing well with your families at home. It is a very different school holiday break to what we are used to. A big thank you to you all for your support during this time. Government has kept with their cautious approach when responding to COVID-19, and as a result, we will stay at Alert Level 3 for a bit longer than anticipated.

We are proud of how our community has responded to this outbreak, but the mahi isn’t yet done. Please continue to follow all the alert level requirements including staying at home and getting tested for COVID-19 if you are feeling unwell. I have included some information about vaccinations to support decision making.

Term 4 will commence with our Distance Learning model online, on Monday 18th October. Pinehill School will open onsite on Monday 18th October for those children who need to attend Level 3 school, due to parents' work commitments. If this is the case please email me, by Friday 15th October 9am to inform me which day/s your child/ren are required onsite in Level 3

We will have a small number of staff at school in Level 3, with bubble classes of approximately 10 students. Students can not turn up without email notification as we have to plan for staff to come on site for the number of students registered. Online learning continues and is the same, whether your child is supervised at home or onsite.

In Level 3, the school looks very different. I have attached the Level 3 bubble class logistics.

Please discuss this with your children, so they know what school looks like on Monday 18th October if they are required to return onsite in Level 3. Click here

Our staff on-site will also have been tested for COVID-19 before they get back to work on Monday 18th October and we are moving toward having 100 percent of our staff vaccinated, as per mandate. We are all playing our part in keeping our community safe.

You can also assist everyone’s safety by keeping your child at home if they are feeling unwell and please do contact your GP or Healthline, to seek advice about getting tested.

These are the very best things we can do to keep our community as safe as possible and get everyone back to school.

Key points moving into Term 4, Level 3 School on Monday 18th October

  • The school site is closed to all except for Level 3 staff and registered Level 3 students only

  • Physical distancing is required inside (1 metre) and outside (2 metres) at school,

  • Before and after school care is NOT operational in Level 3.

  • No non-essential visitors

  • If there are no adults at home to supervise your child in Level 3, notify the principal of your child/rens Level 3 attendance by Friday 15th October

  • Contact tracing remains a priority through our visitor register, QR code, SchoolApp check-in, timetable, and attendance register.

Ngā mihi nui,

Carla Veldman / Principal
