Next Chapter Retreat
March 29, 2018
Eastern Nebraska Research & Extension Center (Mead, NE)
All current high school freshmen enrolled in 4-H are invited to come to this retreat. If a 4-H member has a friend they want to invite who is not enrolled in 4-H, they can bring that friend with them, but in order to continue on to Chapter 2,3,4, they must enroll in 4-H. These 4-H members do not need to be enrolled in the Next Chapter club for your county in order to participate, just 4-H in general.
Any 4-H member in 9th grade is welcome to this program!
See the flyer below for more details.

Cultivate Access
Cultivate ACCESS (Agriculture Career Communities to Empower Students in STEM) aims to increase participation of under-represented groups from rural Nebraska in agricultural careers through a holistic mentoring and development program.
We are currently accepting applications for the inaugural class of Cultivate ACCESS scholars to participate in the program during the 2018-2019 school year. Scholars will be mentored by a career professional closely aligned with their demographics and career interests. College student ambassadors will provide additional mentoring through regularly meetings with the scholars. Cultivate ACCESS Scholars will gain valuable employability skills including leadership, teamwork and communication. Scholars will be invited to celebrate their achievements and future goals at an end-of-the-year celebration.
Visit cultivate.unl.edu/scholars for application instructions or contact us at cultivate@unl.edu for more information.
This project was supported by the Women and Minorities in STEM Fields Program of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, USDA, Grant #2017-38503-27167.
YQCA - Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (Quality Assurance)
In 2018, all youth ages 8-18 enrolled in any of following animal projects will need to complete YQCA training: • Beef (bucket calf, feeder calf, breeding beef, market beef) • Dairy cattle • Goat (breeding meat goat, dairy goat, meat goat) • Poultry • Rabbit • Sheep (breeding sheep, market sheep) • Swine (breeding swine, market swine)
Youth must be currently enrolled at https://ne.4honline.com
In York County, youth may choose one of two options to complete their YQCA requirements:
• Complete online training at https://yqca.learngrow.io. Cost is $12. For directions and more information, visit https://4h.unl.edu/yqca. Once training is complete, send completed certificates to Tanya Crawford, tanya.crawford@unl.edu or drop off at the Extension Office. If certificates are not submitted, we have no way of knowing if trainings have been completed. No certificate = No Certification
• Attend a face-to-face training. Once a date is set the 4-H member must sign up online and pay the YQCA Fee of $3.00 BEFORE the training. To sign up for face to face trainings, you must go to https://learngrow.io . The training will cost $3 payable by credit or debit card on the website. We cannot take payments in person; all families must register and pay online. Then at the training, you will pay the Nebraska Extension – York County $5. You must sign in as proof of attendance. After the training, Tanya will go in and issue the certification.
Deadline to complete Youth for Quality Care of Animals (Quality Assurance) is June 15. If you have further questions, contact Tanya Crawford at 402-362-5508 or tanya.crawford@unl.edu
