A War Like Civilization
Spartan Civilization
Sparta is a warrior society in ancient Greece that reached the height of its power after defeating rival city-state Athens in the Peloponnesian War. Sparta is a civilization where we can protect ourselves from anybody or any civilization.
Spartan Shields
Spartan shields were made out of bronze and wood. They were 30 pounds. The shields were convex so when an enemy hit them, their weapon will deflect out.
Spartan Spears
Spartan Spears were 6-10 feet. They did not use spears to throw, in fact they use it to jab the enemy.
Spartan Swords
Spartan Swords were 12-20 inches long. The blade on the sword was made out of iron. The sword was the Spartan's secondary weapon
Education and School
In Sparta, people had little education such as reading an writing. Basically their education was training for the navy. Sparta didn't care about anything else except war. At the age of seven, boys were sent off to train for the navy. There, they only had one piece of clothing and no shoes. There school was very difficult.
Spartan Sports
In Sparta their sport was fighting each other. They did this so they could become stronger and better
Leader
The leader of Sparta is Leonidas. Leonidas is a Greek warrior king. He led Sparta to many victories at war.
Social Structure
Boys/Men
- Taken by soldiers from their mother at age seven.
- Taught stories of courage and fortitude.
- Taught to steal, but if caught they were punished.
- At the age of about 20, they had to pass a harsh test to graduate and become a full citizen.
- At the age of 30 they were allowed to live with their families, but they still had to continue to train.
- At the age of 60 they retired from military service.
Girls/Women
- Girls were sent of to school at the age of 7.
- They learned wrestling, gymnastics, how to fight, and endure other physical training.
- They also had a test at the age of 18-20.
- They were assigned a husband.
- They owned as much as a third of the property in Sparta.
Accommodations
Visitors can live in barracks. Barracks are homes for the soldier and they live here when they are in training.

In Sparta, common foods are meat and fish.
