• Sparked career in a speech claiming he had names of of all the communists working in the state department

• Governor of Little Rock ordered the Arkansas National Guard to prevent African Americans from enlisting in Central High School

• When riots broke out, the governor didn't do anything and Eisenhower was contacted yet again

• Placed Arkansas National Guard under federal control

• Sent troops to order control in Little Rock
