7 Habits at Home: Habit 5 - Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood: Why Listening is Essential to a Family
We all see the world differently. The problem is, we think we see things the same way others do. Communication is important to achieve understanding because no two people see, think, or experience the world the same way. Therefore, there is a great need, especially in families, to seek first to understand and talk second so we understand each other’s point of view.
Nurse Notes
Dear Lone Star Families,
One of the many side effects of the virus is that it sucks like a black hole. It has absorbed our 2020 year, our energy, and our attention away from other important topics. So, C.V. ( you all know who I am talking to) you are taking a backseat right now. You are buckled securely in your toddler car seat and can have a tantrum. I am going to ignore you for a few moments, crank up the music and think about something else.
One of these topics is health promotion. February is next week! February is Valentines! February is Heart Health month. It is also Go Red for Women. This is American Heart Association's program to raise awareness of the #1 killer of women. Please check out link below. Wear red day is on February 5th, but we will celebrate it on February 11 due to Tribe Day. Make a commitment to heart health. And tell a family member or friend that you can't bear to live without her.
Please check out link to clinic webpage for info on all things Covid.
Call or email if you have any questions or concerns.

Weekly COVID Positive Case Notification (January 25-29)
Dear Lone Star Elementary Parents and Staff,
This week, we were notified that two individuals related to our building tested positive for COVID-19. The last dates these individuals were on campus were:
1 - January 14, 2021
1 - January 25. 2021.
There is no concern with close contact at this time. A close contact is defined as someone within 6 feet of the individual for 15 minutes or longer without protective face coverings or someone who was directly exposed to infectious secretions. We feel it is our responsibility to keep our parents and staff informed as much as possible during this time. Disinfecting of the building continues to happen on a nightly basis. Teachers and staff are diligently cleaning commonly touched surfaces throughout the day according to TEA Guidelines.
We are taking every step possible to stop the spread to others. If you are experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, we strongly encourage you to consult with your health care provider and communicate with your campus nurse. We will continue to monitor the situation and report required information to the Montgomery County Health Department.
Sincerely,
Lone Star Elementary Administration
